Just got back from France and I may have a problem with Bessie's engine. I collated the MPG over 5 brim to brim fill ups, the first being with premium diesel the others with ordinary

1st did 30.42 mpg
2nd did 23.86 mpg
3rd did 22.58 mpg
4th did 21.16 mpg

Now you can see it's getting steadily worse and a massive difference from 1st to 2nd fill ups! was that due to premium diesel I wonder? Or coincidence?

Anyway to be sure I have booked the van in for a diagnostic check as there are threads around about known EGR valve and injector problems causing bad mpg. The 2.2 is a Ford engine so can't blame Fiat for this one.

maybe you were going downhill for the first tank
then started climbing and then the headwind got stronger:Doh:

naa seriously i get on average 20-21.5 mpg with my 3 litre.
but the type of roads do make a difference to it.
as expected i get more on motorways than on the a/b roads and hills well thats another story
added to the fact i have quite a heavy right foot and the van weighs nearly 5 ton i don't think its too bad though i may try premium next time i fill up if im feeling flush just to see if i get any improvement:thumb:

When did they start with ford engines, always thought 2.2 was peugeot.
Do you know what ford it is or is it special to fiat

On that basis, in a couple of months a full tank will take you nowhere. I think at that point I would consider selling it.
