Hi all, I have a Fiat carado t459 on a 2021 plate.
I am struggling with low water pressure and need your advice.
The pump sounds strong and checking it over looks very clean and normal.
I am trying to see if there is a water filter anywhere but I can’t see one.
In my manual there is no mention of a filter but something must be restricting the flow as it was pretty strong when we first bought it.
We first noticed it when the toilet flush seemed a bit weak. We then turned on the taps and there is definitely a drop in performance.
My first contact is you guys because the dealer is not always the most helpful.
Not sure if it helps but my boiler is the truma system.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Just to add, the water pump is submersible and there is no filter near the pump or tank! Cheers.

Sorry to go on but the toilet flush has stopped altogether and the taps are down to a trickle.
The water pump does seem to be struggling! Help!

Make sure there is no debris in the tank (like paper etc) restricting supply to the pump. Brother in law had a van with submersible pump and it was blocked with paper which was left in the tank from new. There probably is a non return valve which may be "fubared" which would need replacing or the pump is U/S

Thanks for your reply, I’ve just checked and there is no paper or debris blocking the pump.
I’d be gutted if the pump is at fault as the van is only a year and half old!

Check the pipe/hose at the pump for splits as it could be pumping strong but not going up the hose. Let it sit just in water so you can see top above water, if you can get your hand in tank

i have a sunlight t68 and have had a similar problem ..if you unscrew the filter on the end of the taps and look in it you may find that the fake chrome plating has come off inside the taps and blocked the filter on the end of the taps i have looked at your van on the net and you have the same taps as me

Thanks again for replies, I will check the hose for a split tomorrow and also see if I can see what make the pump is. The frost protection valve is shut and it’s nice and toasty in the van.
I am surprised it has gone from reduced flow this morning to no toilet flush and just a trickle through the taps in less than a day, does this suggest it could be worse than a blocked filter ( if it has one) cos I can’t find one at all?

Thanks Pagey, just checked the taps and are fine.
I think I,m gonna drop all the water tomorrow and blow the pipes using my Floe drain down system, this might clear a potential blockage. I am mindful to use below 1 bar pressure!
I will fill up with fresh water and see if there is any change.

Didn’t know was a submersible pump. Make sure any pipe work fitted to the top isn’t leaking allowing the pressure out.

Thanks Landy Andy, I will check it out tomorrow.
I can’t understand why the first 3 days of our trip was fine with no issues and then yesterday we started to notice the drop in pressure.
As of now we have nothing but a trickle so we are thinking of heading home early to see if we can get someone to have a look and hopefully repair it cos we use the van every couple of weeks.
I really hope we don’t have to take it back to the dealer as they are looking at many months before booking in.

For the price of a pump I'd just buy one and change it if it doesn't cure the problem at least you'll have a spare

Is it a Reich twin submersible pump. If so one "side" of the pump may have failed. Time to replace it if that is the case.
As Peter says above, quite common especially if it's been run dry. If one of the motors has burnt out you often see a bit of distortion on one side where the motor has overheated.

Thanks for the info guys, I’ve had a quick look at the pump and it looks like a single motor pump as it’s quite slim.
Also it has definitely not been run “dry”.
There is plenty of water in the tank.
Ive just tried it again and the pump is unusually quiet and no water coming out of the taps at all!

Time to buy a new pump by the sound of it. We always carry a spare.

Thanks peterc10. Are submersible pumps readily available or will they have to be true to the specific model for my van.
The dealer I bought from will have a wait time of months just to check it out, then another couple of months to book in for the repair and wait for new parts.
Even though the van is under warranty ( 18 months old) I can’t wait that long as I use the van On a regular basis.

Thanks jev88 I will check it today when I take the pump out.
The dealership I bought the van from is CamperUk in Lincoln.
Great company but service department is so busy the wait times for repairs are very disappointing. As a customer who bought the van brand new from them you would hope to get in earlier but maybe warranty work comes a bit lower down the priority list!

Just an update regarding the pump.
I contacted CamperUk today and they were very helpful.
They have squeezed me in for the 20th January to replace the pump under warranty.
Big thanks to them and all of you who offered great advice.
I also intend buying a spare pump just in case!,
