FIAT and PSA to merge

There have been talks about this for years.
Won't be any time soon!

I would be very surprised. They looked at fiat a few years ago but chose Vauxhall instead.

The Peugeot and Citroen (Boxer and Relay) bodies are built by Fiat in a Fiat factory so unfortunately nothing will change there!

I read that PSA were shifting production of their Boxer and Relay vans to a new factory in Poland.

They signed a new agreement with FCA in Feb this year to continue production at Sevel until 2023.

With the biggest changes to cars and motoring generally coming, companies like these are planning their survival. Expect to see more mergers like this.

Boxer, as with all MH base vehicles , is a commercial vehicle.
A point without a point? Are you saying your rules about established manufacturers never making fit and finish mistakes like Tesla did doesn't apply to commercial vehicles? And that paint quality doesn't apply to commercial vehicles?

Yes.

So they know how to do fit and finish properly and how to do a decent spray job but on commercial vehicles they don't care and can't be arsed?

Yes.

Commercial vehicle .. commercial finish. Clue is in the name.

Can you imagine how much a motorhome would cost if they were built from scratch

Whats not to get.. commercial vehicle is built for work... to do a job. The paint is there because you cant send it out with none on, because it would rust.. but believe me, if they could they would.

Cynic or What?. But I understand where you are coming from!!, I remember lorries with Crap seats and No heaters!!. PAS was having arms like an Olympic Weight Lifter!. 3 gear "crash Boxes". Took umpteen years to catch on to the fact that Lorry drivers spent far more time in the cab than Car drivers ever did.

There is one Car manufacturer that has not always pointed their cars....Lotus and you can still get an unpainted series 3 from Caterham. Delorean did not use paint and some airlines in the past have not painted planes to save weight and cost. I wonder if that's why Airstream's are not painted. Could start a trend on unpainted Commercial vehicles :)

All Jokes aside I had our PVC polished and ceramic coated and it looks pretty good compared to a standard Van. I have to say that some of the colours and finishes on Vans do look a bit drab.

Will that mean more job losses here?( we are sinking deeper into the mud )
We're not actually, our economy is doing much better than most of our neighbors. Btw the last UK made van factory (transit) was moved to Turkey with the help of EU money.
