Hi, I've been looking at the 2.3l vans and they seem quite good on fuel but now a 3l has come up.
Any real world mpg figures please?

We have a 3l engine with Fiat auto gearbox in our 4.5T Hymer A class and I keep a note of fuel used. So far we have averaged 24.5mpg over 9,500 miles. That is compared with our previous 2.3L manual C class 3.5T Adria that averaged 26.0mpg. Some of the difference is due to the heavier vehicle I suspect.

Trip to Spain and back averaged 28.7, probably better than my Freelander 2!!
Mine's a PVC but on Maxi chassis with extra high roof and weight upgrade to 4.0t. (as avatar).
Pulls well.
If you know M62 uphill section from Milnrow to Windy Hill 6th gear 60 mph throughout no problem. Even on Pyranean motorways drop down only one gear sometimes.

My 3 litre has improved its mpg as its got older. Originally I was getting 26 mpg when new but now it's over 29 at 25k miles. Of course, it could just be me slowing down as I get older. :)

And for the OP, here's an avatar for you. Coopers ale. :)

What type of motorhome are you looking at or comparing with?
You've not stated whether you want a panel van conversion, coach class with over cab bed or weight?
All of which will have a bearing on your mpg.
I look at some of the above mpg returns with envy and know that my 3.0l 160 maxi will never achieve those sorts of returns.
I have a 5.2t tag axle and seriously considering a remap to improve on mpg.
