Good Afternoon All
As I sit here at the Black Horse Farm Caravan & Camping Site, our first stop on our Grand Tour of Kent and East Sussex. I am thinking of next years adventures, already(Hopefully Covid Free)
We live just by Portsmouth so makes sense to get the ferry from there to France. We have not taken "Maurice" abroad yet.
When will be the best time to book the ferry, we hope to go in September 2022?
We might need a pet cabin, if we take Archie with us.
Has anyone got a code I could use if somebody would be so kind and how do you use them?

John

I've used that route with our pooch. Going overnight the dog slept in the van and was fine. Dog friendly cabins tend to book up quickly so be ready to book as soon as possible.

We didn't enjoy the crossing as the boat was old, tatty and smelly but by 2022 things might be better. :)

I've been on the seacat from Pompey to Cherbourg in a car , it was great , 3 hours port to port

You can see why , that's some power

Don't discount the tunnel.

If you're off to the med then Pompey is quicker. But I m just up at hindhead as Nd wouldn't dream of taking the ferry based purely on cost.
Tunnel 90 minutes 120 quid return. Pompey 30 mins 500 quid return.

But if you add in the costs of fuel, the time factor and where you land in France plus more fuel to get to your destination the prices start to even out depending on where you are going.

Thanks for the advice. It looks like we might go in June now and it seems that the price are about the same £496 with dog cabin on the Portsmouth to Cherbourg ferry against £320 plus fuel using the tunnel and time driving there.
So I will look where we want to go, probably Normandy/Brittany road trip and go from there!

We loved Normandy in 2019 but the car made it a very special trip

Gone now unfortunately, replaced with a motorhome, though I'm not entirely sure how that happened
