We’re thinking of trying to get just a single ferry passage home In ten weeks from northern Spain. We missed our chance to get a return trip and we have a dog which means a deluxe cabin I think.
has anyone had success gong on a cancellation list Santander to Portsmouth if such a thing exists with Direct ferries?

I think dogs have to be in dog friendly rather than deluxe cabins, or be in kennels. That was the case on our last trip.

I would contact Brittany Ferries direct for a cancellation rather than using an agent.

I always book single crossings, just go onto the Brittany Ferries website and try and book, as you are my friend I will send you my code for the discount.

I find the best way to get a dog friendly cabin is to ring and ask, much easier than doing it on line, there never is one available. Make sure you have a discount code and the name of the person who gave it to you when booking.

The only time we did it the dog friendly cabins were de luxe or rather the most expensive.

The dog friendly cabins are usually the outside 2 or 4 berth ones with the carpet taken up.

They are pet friendly cabins
They get snapped up at release when the schedules come out, website goes down due to demand.

Best way is direct to Brittany ferries, not with an agent.

I’m guessing you would have to put the dog in a kennel.

But you can sit on deck with it as much as you like ( pet areas only )

Brittany Ferries don't do a 'cancellation list' - you just have to keep calling them, which is a PITA.

Someone told be they got a cancellation but they telephoned Brittany Ferries rather than using their web site.

Certainly expensive, not so sure about deluxe.

We booked and paid for our crossing only to be told, three weeks before sailing, that that sailing had been cancelled. Only “dog friendly” cabins available were for five weeks later. We had to cancel and drive as we couldn’t shift our dates that far. Therefore not a fan of that route, but I wish you good luck. (y)

If you do get a “dog friendly” cabin could you post a photo on here? It would help others to decide.

We’ve done it before it’s just a double bunk berth and dog goes on one bed.

So not deluxe then? Just standard cabin with carpet removed as posted above.
When we did it from Genoa it was first class dog friendly cabins hence my de luxe comment. It was all that was available at the time though there may have been cheaper available dog friendly ones.

We booked a pet friendly cabin just before Christmas. We leave in 2 weeks time and return in May, again with a pet friendly cabin. You need to ring Brittany Ferries and ask when they have any available. They are certainly not ‘de luxe’ cabins, but perfectly comfortable.
