Does anyone know if a site which allows you to search for the cheapest price from any French port to any U.K. port , rather than specify a route? (Like skyscanner does for flights)

All the ferry booking sites seem to make you specify a route which means you have to search each one individually rather than just ask for the cheapest.

If no one does this yet, someone should!

Can’t help with your request I’m afraid but I would urge caution if considering booking via some of the sites. My experience with AFerry over a Stenaline crossing to Ireland was an absolute shambles with them only being contactable via the ‘Crewbot’ gizmo on the website. Lesson learnt, I’ll only book direct with the ferry company for travel to Europe from now on - although apparently ViaMare (sp) are highly rated for the Italy to Greece crossings.

Seconded. Never go near brokers. Always contact the ferry company directly.

I have not come across a ferry price comparison service. Why not set one up! You could maybe get decent advertising revenue, and click-ons for the ferry companies! I'd use it! Well I wouldn't as I only ever use the tunnel.

Call the Companies direct. I called Brittany Ferries and asked for any port in the UK and any port in France. Specify a rough date though, ours had to have pet friendly cabin. Can't fault them. Got pet friendly 1 day after the wanted date. You won't book it online.

Not only that, but for many, I guess the cost of the crossing has got to be balanced between factors such as: crossing time, distance from home to port, proximity from destination port to first stopping place, departure timings of crossings, cabins or not, P and O or not, etc etc.

No point saving fifty quid on the ferry if you then spend that on the derv you use to get back on to the route to where you want to go, i.e. you might not take the Newhaven-Dieppe ferry if you are going to Brittany. You would take the ferry to Cherbourg, St Malo or maybe Caen.

Of course you take all that into account. I just think it would be so useful to have a similar site to skyscanner where you can put anywhere in U.K. to anywhere in xxxx. It will bring up some horrendous options with multiple connections and long layovers but for some folk, they’ll take that for a cheap flight. Similarly some would take an 8 hour, 3am ferry if it’s £50 cheaper than Dover-Calais. At least all options are in one place rather than searching on every port…

Unfortunately that’s also what you still have to do with DFDS to obtain the 20% discount on the Newhaven to Dieppe crossing.
