We currently raw feed our 10 year old lab as we hope it will prolong her life and help with her arthritis. We will be MHing Europe for a year from next April and wondering what others do when away. Obviously we'll probably have to switch to dried or freeze dried but is there a good grain free brand available across Europe?

I’ll be watching this thread with interest. We started our dog on raw but gave up. We now travel with his food from the UK - Wolf of Wilderness. It would be nice to be able to buy as we go though as it weighs quite a bit when on a 4 month trip!

We use Akela and have it delivered to our home here in France, arrives two days from ordering. Perhaps you could stay in one place on a site for a few days from time to time and have it delivered there?

I feed wolf of wilderness when on holiday like we are just now but with payload concerns i won't be able to carry bulk amounts.

We feed our 3 raw only at home and Lilys Kitchen when in mh.

We feed our mut on pets at home own brand it seems to suit him ok. Why is it hard to feed raw on a europe trip ? I don't really know whats involved but would have thought that easier than trying to get a UK brand of food.

You can buy plenty of raw meat in Europe —- from what I could tell any dead animal can be bought. Local slaughterhouse in France had its own shop.
Do you have to mince it ? If you get one of those hand mincers you can feed any raw meat you can buy.

Yes, if you travel in France, Spain, etc but we go to Scandinavia and here in Norway any shop bought meat is out of the question price-wise.

I would have thought raw feeding would be the easiest whilst traveling. Meat can be bought anywhere every couple of days so even less weight to lug about.

I feed my boy Forthglade food as they do a 100% meat range. I buy direct from them and they send it free to my home. But I mix mine with a dry food, as I’m not raw feeder.

Our boy is raw fed, we get frozen "chubs" from Nutriment but it is bulky. When we had the two of them and we were running low on supplies, we 'd get cheaper butcher cuts, his brother loved raw chicken wings, Sky's not so keen but after a couple of days, he tends to "get on programme " :D2

We feed frozen raw, mostly Bella and Duke, I can fit 21 days feeds in my RV freezer.

For longer If I were you I would get the dog used to a quality dry food by feeding it once a week I would suggest you avoid the pet shop and use either Gentle or Akela wholeprey, feed your dog this once a week at home and then when you are away you can feed raw as you find it, knowing you have a few bags of this quality dry food when you can't find it or it's too expensive.

Has anyone thought of their dog going veggie....?

I've read that some vegans have tried to do this. That said most of the food you find in Pets at home and the like have so much grain and rice they may as well be vegan.

Yes I guess that they bulk it out with grain. They bring wheat in from France to the pet food factory at Wisbech, no expense spared. Haha

There's lods of dead cats at the side of the road just chuck him one of them from Time to time

Another lifetime raw feeder here (y)

I've never been abroad but as suggested above I'd buy locally as you travel, they must sell meat over there :blusher:

No i won't be feeding raw meat when away as it would cost a fortune to feed from the butchers and we would have to buy fresh every few days as won't have much freezer space and we'll be camping off grid quite a bit. I will look into high quality brands available in Europe and maybe get a delivery when we're on a campsite for a few days. She'll eat anything and everything put in front of her so that's not an issue.

Not into dogs so probably no use , but what about the horse meat stalls on the markets, there's always long queues for the fresh minced stuff and loads cheaper than other meat.
