Ducato Hymer 574 faulty rear lights.

The front and side lights all working ok,
The rear light cluster nothing working
At all.
Any suggestion

First of All, What age (Year)?. Canbus on later ones are very finicky about EARTH`ing. Second is it just the Rear cluster at one side or both including the No Plate lights?. Fusing generally fails just one side (L or R) rarely both.?

Just a thought,? Have you recently reversed or driven over anything that could have caught the wiring in an exposed position and physically damaged it?.

Many years ago, I jacked a car and accidently cut the whole rear Loom!!. Ever laid on your back under a car in winter, with a soldering iron and some Tape?.

Hi many thanks for the reply
The year of the Hymer is 2007, I have taken off the light units at the back of the camper Connected a earth connection their is a small voltage of 0.5 of a volt from all the plug in connecters and it is stable at this voltage, (ie) to flasher bulbs. The front flasher bulbs work ok but at a fast rate, head lamps fog Day time running lights, the lights that are both sides of the camper top and bottom all ok.

Not sure of Hymers, but check and see if there is a central junction box under the chassis somewhere, these can get damaged/cracked and fill with water ?

2007? , will almost certainly be a canbus system, 0,5V? might? be the "signal" voltage?.

The way "canbus" works, (as was described to me by a Vauxhall Tech years ago) when I had issues with the Astra. The "signal" voltage only tells the unit which "lamp" to Ignite, the "power" voltage to the lamp is from a "main" type supply. If I am reading that correctly, It would mean that somewhere there is a fault in the "main" supply, Fracture or fused fail?.

Not really that helpful I know, but I suspect you need to get it checked at the OBD, to see what the faults are showing on the Management system.

Rapid flashing of front lights only indicates there is a fault in the power supply to part of the unit.
Tracing back the loom can be very difficult but providing a good power supply to the rear, first, as you have already done with a good earth and secondly, a good lighting power supply, could enable you eliminate it being an earthing fault.
