Go to bed early and wake up early. The early morning hours are always the best. - 5:45 am start!

First time I've managed to photograph a young Nuthatch, didn't hang around long as mummy was brining in the food!

Yes, sometimes people get them confused with a Siskin.
We have a few siskins coming to the feeders just now - a couple of pairs and a few oddments - never seen yellowhammers here though.

So true but so hard to do. We have a puppy and so there are 4:30 am wake up and go outside calls. Living in a wooded valley, the bird song is absolutely fabulous - I wish I could identify them - but being still in nightie and slippers, bed calls me back!
