I'm having troubles with my fantastic ceiling fan in that the motor to open and close the dome only works when it feels like it.
I've had the motor off and seems to work ok on a bench.
So I'm wondering about the various sensors that it seems to have, thermostat and rain sensor.
Can I just put a wire across the connections to isolate each at a time to eliminate ?
Any other ideas I could try ?
There are also a couple of buttons I don't know what they do and can't find a manual on tinternet

Figaro I looked on eBay and if you enter American R5 ceiling fan it come up with what I think you have got you could pursue the seller for a copy of instructions might be to do with the automatic opening and closing if not sorry for wasting your time?

Check the rain sensor. If you disconnect it the lift motor will work whether it's raining or not so be careful! I've no experience of this fan but rain sensors generally work by being bridged by droplets of water. Corrosion & dirt might make the sensor think it's raining when it isn't and could do so intermittently so it's worth a look and temporarily disconnecting it would prove it.
