Family with four young children monitoring down past Poitiers in August. I’ve been trying to find a lunch time stop ( snack lunch) with room to run. It’s easy with a motorhome but I’m stuck finding anything beyond motorway Aire Sarthe de Touraine. Any ideas?

I have traveled that road many times and there are aires about every 20 kms and they are well advertised in advance. If you have food with you; try and choose one without fuel facilities for a peaceful stop and try avoid french lunchtime; 1200 to 13:0.

There's a campsite at Sees near Alencon. We stayed there a couple of weeks back and we will go back if in the area again in future.

If you're just looking for somewhere for a lunchtime stop with space for the kids to run around, the Aire de Joel Boisgard might be a good one. No facilities apart from toilet, but it has a big open grass area with picnic tables.

An alternative might be to take the D338 between Alencon and Le Mans. You're bound to find a spot on that 30 mile stretch and it will break the monotony of autoroutes.

This is the list of Aires from Abbeyville to Le Mans . Switch on Google translate if needed but it's pretty obvious.
