Hello
We are a family (kids will be 5,4, 6 months by year end) and we hope to travel south Europe in Autumn. I’ve a couple of questions
- while we might stop in airbnbs occasionally are we mad to be taking young kids in the MH for such a long period of time?
- what MH would accommodate 3 baby seats?
- which is best purchase and sell after 3 months or rent for 3 months (I know it is a broad question)?
- assuming cash isn’t an option which MH would best suit our situation (prioritizing safety for the kids)
- I guess better to buy on the continent as we need a right hand drive (I’m a EU citizen if that makes a differrnce)

Thanks for your help
Eoghan

It’ll be an interesting ‘journey’, both in the physical and spiritual sense.

I’d suggest you’d like a LHD Motorhome not RHD so I’d concur, sourcing on the continent would be best from that aspect.

I’d just like to wish you good luck! You’re a brave mother and father….

I’d suggest for safety an XLWB van conversion with a row of crew cab seats would be best. You can line up the car seat on that long bench if you get the correct one.

Take the three seats with you and see if they fit? I would be looking at getting a 6 berth as a minimum if you intend living in it full time, even if only for 3 months. I don't think your mad, work and finances allowing, it's a great idea !!

Thinking about layout of a possible vehicle, several I’ve seen over the years have permanent bunks, depending on your views, you could top and tail the older kids on one bunk, have the infant on the other, mum and dad on the double over cab or dinette double.

I’m not sure on your driving licence but if you don’t have a C1 (or equivalent) licence, your biggest issue is going to be getting a safe enough (large enough) MH that also allows you to bring the paraphernalia that comes with young children. Payload is your enemy… going to be very challenging without a >3.5T Motorhome…

We did Lake Garda when our kids were 8, 2 and 3 months. would fully recommend it, great times with the kids while young. We were away for 3 and a half weeks, if memory serves and we hired/borrowed a Motorhome off a mate who happened to import them from Germany at the time so was LHD.
Oldest had booster cushion and 2 young ones had child seats strapped in with seat belts we fitted ourselves, not strictly legal but did the job and better than nothing.
