Hello. We're out in the van and the electric step has malfunctioned. I've secured it with the help of an invention by Professor Bungee but I cannot silence the buzzer, any ideas please?
Many thanks.

You don't say what is wrong with it but you can unplug the buzzer to stop it driving you mad. On the Exsis we had it was on the floor under the kitchen draws near the door, on our current Hymer it's under the passenger seat (LHD) they are the two favorite spots to find it.

Thanks Lenny. The step malfunctioned yesterday when I pressed the button. It retracted but the motor kept running and eventually timed out. The step now moves freely but not under power. I have tied it up but the buzzer thinks it is still out. I believe the buzzer is somewhere around the front but it's not easy because of the reflected sound.

Probably a gear tooth is broken you can rotate the gear wheel onto an unused section.

There’s normally a button switch on at the rear of the step which is pushed in when the step retracts, this turns the buzzer on and off. The step pushes it in when it retracts and silences the buzzer, make sure it’s not stuck in the step out position.

We had the step gears disintegrate on our Exsis I they had just stripped the cogs as they were made of white plastic. Couldn’t get cogs so ended up fitting a new step.?

A bit late to tell you now Alan but it may help others.
There are 2 or 3 companies you can find with a Google search who will make one off nylon cogs at very reasonable prices.

Worried about the step on your DL then?
I've had trouble the crap driver Project 2000 step. Dealers had a go at it twice but its not gone wrong since I sorted it out.

Not at the moment not had any problems with drivers step but habitation step gets a lot of use and my missus does thump down on it quite hard, so spare would be useful as new are quite expensive aren’t they??

Mine stopped working in the summer but after water spray is fine

Not on a Hymer but on our previous Swift motorhome the step got stuck halfway. I removed stripped it, cleaned it, lubricated and found nothing wrong with it. Turned out to be the Sargent controller box.
