We met a friendly Hymer driving couple at our current campsite (Castrojeriz, South of Burgos)
Their exhaust system has collapsed. The van is a 2002 A class B574 on a Fiat 2.8 JTD engine. The wonderful village garage which has replaced our brake disk pads says he could not do their exhaust so we are wondering if anyone knows where they may get it fixed. They are at the start of their trip, heading south from here. Any recommendations? Many thanks

What part of the exhaust has collapsed?
4 parts to that system plus rubber hangers I believe. depending on lhd or rhd.
If its a straight pipe that's gone, a quick fix get you home.
Top and tail any can cut down through, wrap the exhaust break with tin foil and then the can over the top handy bit of wire to bind and off to garage that can.
If it's the rubber hangers a handy jubilee couple of clips as temp fix
Or use breakdown, but probably spanish costa a lot.
Good luck

Ive used large size cable ties if hangars have broken as a temporary fix. Some were on for over 1000 miles.

Metal cable ties are available (used for fire alarm cables) great to have a few on board👍
I carry stainless steel cable ties specifically for a damaged exhaust repair. Hopefully I won't have to use them.

I agree with the above advice, re ordering the parts and getting them fitted locally . (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Thank you all for your suggestions. Our new friends took a lot of your advice and made a temporary repair using foil which he is happy with for now and is off today to continue holiday and with a Fun card to join up! Many thanks again
