Hi we have garmin 770 camper sat nav. What address info do i put in to find the destination of the aire, for example want to go to, 14 rue principale 37510 villandry. What out of this address is the vital info to get to correct dedtination. Thanks

First of all the Sat nav has to know you wish to get to an address in France.
So set the country to France.
Once you've done that then click on "Address'. Put in Vilandry.
Once you have that, try 'Principale' It should come up after a few of the letters.
Then it's the number in the street.

Hello

What I found with french addresses is that enter the name of the road and not rue. Enter the town then principale and rue should come up as an option.

It looks like you're trying to find the Camping-Car Park site near the Chateaux, CCP site will show you the co-ordinates which is a better way to find it.

Since the last update on my Garmin, I have been unable to find anywhere to enter coordinates, my preferred method.
It will not allow a town centre either, must have a street, but we discovered that every big or little place in France has a Rue/Ave Gen De Gaulle, or a Rue de la Republic!

We use Search for Sites, having used co ordinates for a few years we now pay the £5.99 subscription, download the info onto the sat nav then all you have to put in is the S---- reference number that each stop has and off you go 👍

Or simply use Search for Sites on your phone. When you have found the Aire that you wish to visit use the Navigation Options which let you choose Google Maps, Waze Maps, CoPilot, Syngic or TomTom Go which ever you have access to on your phone to get you there.

Works well for us with Google Maps.

I agree with that.

Be certain that you have selected the correct format for co-ordinates in "Settings" too. It should show you a map of where you are going to be sure.

Whilst I would agree with Funsters on here who said, or suggested that Coordinates are better, could I point out that in the OP, the originator didn't ask how to get somewhere using Coordinates. It was asked how to get to an address in France.

In some countries the house number comes at the end of the street name and the street is often after the town. Another point is that the address code is for a wide area such as the village or town or part thereof unlike our post codes which are very specific.

At 8:04 Woodys Travels, the OP, asked where to put the co-ordinates though. Perhaps there is an element of mis-description going on here?

Not bothered about specific addresses, I use paper map book for route just want to put a town/place en-route in the satnav. Can do that on Tom Tom but our cheapy garmin requires a street name but allows me to skip house number.
