eriskay scotland - Logistics of Travel

The nearest Ferry terminal to Eriskay is Lochboisdale from Oban which is a summer only ferry on arrival you head south and cross the causeway from South Uist to Eriskay, the roads perfectly fine for a Motorhomes,, mostly good quality track single track with passing places.

We have been a few times and loved it. If you go dont forget to carry on and visit Barra 👍🏻👍🏻

Can only echo what Otter Spotter said. Look out for the golden eagles.

Barra is lovely , continue from there to Vatersay beach.

If you really want to make a trip of it catch the ferry at Uig on Skye across to Tarbert, drive up to Stornaway then meander south.

Forgot about Vatersay, great camping.
Just a note, the Uig ferry terminal is being improved from October for 6 months so be aware Ferry May not be operating, simplest route but may be busy would be Ullapool to Stornaway and travel down through the islands .

It depends very much on what your priorities are, and whether you want to spend your readies on ferry fare or on fuel!
So: would you prefer to drive more (on the mainland and on the Outer Isles) and take a shorter ferry, or drive less and take a longer ferry.
Oban to Barra is a great trip but with a moho quite expensive (but saves a lot of driving), then take the small ferry to Eriskay - NB Sunday sailings by request only! The shortest - & therefore cheapest - is Uig to either Lochmaddy or Tarbert. Then drive to Eriskay - from the north there are causeways all the way.
You will need to book your main crossing as soon as you know your preferred dates.
No bookings are being taken from Uig (Skye) from 19th October as the pier is to be closed & demolished in preparation for building a new harbour area.
Ferry timetables are a bit of hit-&-miss at the moment eg this weekend only one sailing going from Skye to each of Tarbert & Lochmaddy, using redeployed MV Isle of Mull, due to MV Hebrides going in for repair to the firefighting system. The result of all the shuffling around is cancellation of ALL ferries Ardrossan-Campeltown.
CalMac's "service status" page is ALWAYS your friend: https://www.calmac.co.uk/service-status

This is the up-dated version of the Comhairle's very useful guidance for mohos:

Kilbride camp site is only a couple of miles from the causeway across to Eriskay. Cafe on site and small beach across the road for a swim. Polachar Inn not far as well.
