Upgrading our T6 to a low profile, probably a Pilote P690 on a fiat chassis is the 130 engine enough for europe trips or will 160 be worth the upgrade as it looks like a long wait for the 160. Other option was a Chausson 648 as we can get a ford engine.
Im not expecting a rocket but from previous experience we have passed many motorhomes on those long inclines, the mrs wants an A class but how can a 130 keep up with lorries as standard I think our 70s camper would be better on fuel.

Hi and welcome👍I think you will find 130 will be enough. If it's not I know a place that remaps for Camper UK from 130 to 160 for a few hundred quid.😉 No idea why you would have to wait, it's the same engine.

Just had a remap myself. Like many others here on the forum.

If going for the A Class go for the 160 especially if having an auto, even better the 180.
I wouldn't even consider remapping an engine that's under warranty. If you have a problem and they don't pay up the cost of a new engine is frightening.

I don't think the dealer's are bothered about warranty due to remapping,if they were why would they get new vans remapped.😉

Not that it will make much difference but if you are buying new, the Ducato is now 140bhp.
(A 120BHP version is also available but I don't think many convertors use this engine)

That's the first time I have heard of a MH dealer offering a re-map. Can someone tell me if Camper UK are a recognised, approved Fiat Professional Servicing agent?, just interested, as I always wondered why if a re-map was safe, why Fiat Professional didnt offer it.
Especially if, as has been mentioned, the only difference between the 130 & 160 BHP models is the ECU map, which I very much doubt to be honest, as normally the Turbo is upgraded plus other bits.
Looking forward to being educated more on this.:giggle:

Yes camper UK are fiat professional. They may not offer the upgrade through FP service but often take vans for a remap to the garage I am talking about.

We've got the 160 with an auto and it's great to drive. I prefer it to the new car. There are arguments for and against remapping. A good reputable remap expert will offer and insurance backed upgrade.
As always check out the small print.

TDI tuning can sort you out for power and consumption and only takes 30 mins to fit
