Hi my friends, my sister in law has her eye on a new 2023 Elddis campervan, what's the members thoughts on Elddis, the make, build quality, reliability. Tia.

We have a 2020 Elddis 115, love it and no problems so far.

We have had a 2013 Elddis 175 for the past 5 years, and it has been faultless, nothing has fallen off and nothing has broken, tell a lie, the Thule step mounting bracket cracked, but that was an easy weld-up job.
The layout of the 175 was exactly what we were looking for and we have no thoughts of changing to another van as we are more than happy with our Elddis. (y)

We’ve had two Elddis ‘vans from new - Majestic 120 and 155 - both had minor niggles (loose screws, shelf missing) but the only ‘major’ issue was a section of floor delamination in the 120 which was swiftly dealt with under warranty. (y)

Waited to see replies before posting.
My friend has a 2013 aspire from new. 10 year graduate (just as well)
Major damp repairs EVERY year
New skylight and half roof replaced new cushions mouldy. Leak from factory fitted reverse camera back end off two years running, front locker resealed. New wheel arch this year.

Ok, that’s one ‘horror story’ then. How many other 2013 Elddis Aspires have had this trouble, I wonder…..?

We have owned two Elddis motorhomes, both bought new.
The first one (an Accordo 120) was good and we had very few problems.
We sold it at two years old to buy an Elddis Autoquest 155.
This one was not so good. Lots of minor problems due to the poor build quality (but no damp).
Most of these could have been avoided if Elddis had taken a bit more care during assembly.
You mentioned campervan so I assume you mean the CV range based on a Ducato panel van.
I would expect the quality of these to be better as Elddis do not build "the body".

Bought a new Elddis in 2001 Wildwind Equipe - coachbuilt about 6m long. Kept it for 4 years without any issues and only sold to up size to an Adria. The build quality was not as good as the Adria, but was perfectly adequate and much cheaper.
Our experience of the Elddis couldn't have been bad as we have just bought a CV40 pvc. Again not the build quality of the Adria, but a very reasonable price in comparison. No problems so far and it suits our requirements perfectly. Just waiting for the DPS to light up at 2000 miles but that is common to Fiat not to Elddis.
If the layout suits then Elddis should be in the running. Afterall there are lots of stories about (even) Hymers not being up to standard. Just remembered - Hymer bought out Elddis:giggler:

Before I bought a motorhome, my last new caravan was an Elddis, and what a shocker it was. Big lump of plywood fell off the roof after the first week's use. Within a month 7 cupboard doors had come loose, all the bed hinges were loose, the microwave cupboard started to fall off the wall, was repaired by the dealer, and started to fail again. Finally the roof started to collapse under its own weight.

It was my first and last Elddis!

Please tell, we have a 2016 Autoquest 155 since December 21 and would be interested what to look for.

Mine is a 21 plate Elddis Autoquest CV20, we haven't had any major problems, some screws we have had to replace, the originals were too small for the job! We have just noticed (and have had the van for about 15 months now) that the panel showing the water levels etc, no longer lights up, but as they are notoriously inaccurate we have not worried about it too much. Irene passed her hab check in June with flying colours so we are quite happy! The Ducato van base is excellent, Barry quite enjoys driving it.

We bought an Elddis 125 two years ago. A nice looking m/h and the ideal layout.

However, three things let it down……

Where wall boarding joined cheap tape had been used to cover the joints and kept lifting. Having looked at several Elddis caravans recently they are the same. (Different story). It makes them look cheap.

The major problem was the fresh water tank under the dinette seat. It had no overflow so, if the water “sloshed “ around while driving it splashed into the seat enclosure. The problem was that there was a 12v electric connector block in there. We arrived on site to find no electrics as they were submerged under water.

We like to vary between Aires/small sites and off grid so had to travel with water in the tank so it was impossible to use. The dealer was unable to fix it as it was a “basic design fault”. Elddis also stated that the water heater, (under sling Uber the floor), had to be emptied before every hours.

We had a problem with rainwater getting into a locker. We asked for it to be looked at under warranty but they said that ad no damage had yet occurred they would not authorise the work.😳

We traded it in after 14 months.

The 125 has been dropped from the Elddis range so the others may be OK.

Still don’t like the taped seams. Our present m/h has one piece sidewalls with an internal, easily cleaned “fibreglass “ surface.

We had a 2020 Compass Avantgarde 196 now sold, which is a rebadged Elddis. Mix of quite good and laughably poor. Clearly assembled by monkeys. Good value for money but be prepared to finish it off yourself if you are remotely fastidious, alternatively if you're blissfully unaware then it probably passes you by. Apart from the rattles. A few niggles and quality issues. Overall we were happy with it.

We have a CV 40 PVC Elddis very happy with it some minor issues early on but it’s the same with most.

Further to our post #15 we have friends with an Elddis PVC which seems pretty good. A few faults but nothing to worry about.

I had a Marquis Majestic 125 (Accordo). Had part of the floor replaced under warranty at three years. SOLID construction ( Acronym -Soggy Or Lets In Damp?)

Brought a 2022 encore 285; currently less than 1000 miles on the clock. A few issues, and currently in getting warranty fixes. It’s a 50 mile drive to get to one of the few who will do elddis warranty maintenance in Scotland. Also, have to drive down to Dundee for fiat maintenance as I believe they don’t do Aberdeen anymore. Will be a consideration before I get the next van to get support more locally.

Some of the problems I can remember fixed under warranty
Failed reversing camera.
Leaking tap.
Blisters on kitchen work top.
Hairline cracks in fibreglass roof over cab.
Water in step well when driving in rain.
Joint between main roof and roof over cab not properly finished at factory.
Fault with wiring on tail lights.
Numerous minor issues, loose screws, etc fixed by me.
To be honest, when the above items had been fixed it wasn’t a bad van.

We had an accordo. Worst van and after sales service. Shower tray cracked. Wash basin cheap and nasty cracked. Fridge casing always squeaked. Hinges on cupboards came away. Elddis not interested, had to carry out repairs myself then part exchanged to a German van.

I'm in Aberdeen, I use Dinnet Garage ( Fiat Professional), between Aboyne and Ballater.
They have done a couple of warranty jobs for me.
Also just had the van serviced there.

I have 2017 Elddis Autoquest 196 apart from the taped seams peeling and having to adjust cupboard doors and tighten some loose screws and bolts on the fixtures and fittings it's been trouble free in my 2 years. I

We bought a new 175 in 2018 and in addition to being disappointed in some of the workmanship, its
due to go back to the dealer for the second time to rectify some water ingress. While waiting it had it’s annual habitation check to maintain the warranty and a third area has been identified damp. I’m now hoping that Elddis will agree to rectify that area at the same time.
Would I buy another? I’m tempted by a couple layouts of the Elddis range of PVC’s expecting them to be more water tight and hoping the workmanship has improved.

Its worth noting that Elddis are probably one of the few manufacturers left who make the walls using wooden framing instead of plastic, and thus have much more serious problems if the external seams leak..

Many thanks for all the replies, all informative, it appears the campervans are better than the coach built. I shall tell my sister in law the results, Thanks.
