Coach built Majestic 125
Exp
2013
Hi all Majestic owners, mine is a 125 but it applies to the whole range with the same built design. My van is December 2015 so not yet 7 years old, it is built to the “Solid” construction standard. It has a warranty on the body for 10 years for ingress of water.
I was on my step ladder cleaning one of the roof lights when I put my hand on the edge where the plastic angle covers the roof to to side wall joint. To my horror it was loose. On further investigation the adhesive/sealant was not attached to the roof side of the plastic angle. In my case the whole section is about 1500mm in length, it was loose for approx 500mm. It was easy to lift it 20mm off the aluminium skin of the roof. I contacted Marquis in Plymouth(Lee Mill) and will be at the workshop today for investigation. Further to that I have removed the angle trim as I was worried it might come off en-route. The sealant just peeled of the roof like pulling off a piece of masking tape. With the section removed you can see the roof to side wall seam well covered with sealant, I don’t think there is a problem with ingress of water, but nevertheless the angle has been poorly fitted.
Further to this I phoned a friend who has a similar Majestic and he has encountered the same problem, his van is April 2016. He didn’t contact the dealer and ran a bead of adhesive sealer along the top edge.

If it has happened to 2 vans in Devon there must be many more in the same position.

Oh dear.
That is very poor construction. As you can still see the bead pattern it looks like the angle was never stuck to the roof.
At least now you have he chance to fix it properly before you have any water ingress.

Sounds like the wrong sealer or poor prep.

The prep is poor, where I pulled of the sealer/adhesive the alloy roof part was high gloss, it needs to be roughed up with some abrasive cloth and cleaned with alcohol, same with plastic. The build quality is poor, I don’t think it’s only Elddis though!! When you look at the forecourt prices as I did yesterday it does make you think it should be better. The sales staff in Marquis cannot give a trade in price now, it must go to HQ to Director level!!

My previous van was a Majestic 125. My problem was the floor by the kitchen which was replaced at four years. I suspect the original problem was a poorly attached sink waste pipe which had been leaking un-noticed. It was only when it came right off and flooded the floor that I discovered it.

Ours is the same, especially round the lower rear where the lights are. It's only capping, stick it back on 😎

We had a 125 (2015) and had a few problems with sealant. Leaking Heki due to wrong sealant being used, same with off-side window. We traded it in last month and they found damp at the back and on the off-side. Trade in price quoted was revised when it was discovered our last service (in lockdown) hadnt been done by an approved workshop (which we weren’t aware of) although the 5 done previously were all by approved people. As such the 10 year warranty was invalid and they knocked £1800 of the trade-in price.
A hard lesson to learn 😩
