Best park and Ride in Edinburgh for motorhomes. For the day, going into city centre.

We caught a commuter train into Waverley station from a station to the east of Edinburgh.
Easy parking at a selection of stations and it didn't seem expensive.

I was going to suggest the Sherrifhall P&R on the A7 just north of the A720 ring road but we were around there the other day and I think there is a height limit ( but not sure!)

The C&CC THS is just up the A7 at Danderhall with a bus stop right outside and is on from 09 to 20 June 2022 and 05 to 30 August 2022 for the Fringe.

If you're early enough there's a handy little park up spot at the beach. Easy enough to get a bus from Portobello High Street.

If coming in from Berwick try Wallyford and you can get the train or bus to centre, the last time we used it was a good few years ago but I’m sure it’s accessible for larger vehicles if not plenty of safe free parking close by.

Newcraighall P & R is just off the A1 slip road for Kinnaird Retail Park. Turn right at the bottom of the slip road, and head for Newcraighall Village. The turning for the P&R is only a couple of hundred yards on the right over the lights.
It is operated by Scotrail and is only a ten minute journey time into Waverly Station which is right in the centre of Edinburgh.
The last time i used it i am sure it cost 50p to park.

The pub just across the road as Lao allows overnight if you have a meal, just call ahead. The last time we used it 3 years ago the manager was Hugo, stayed 2 nights.

Years ago I contacted Edinburgh City parking dept. to enquire about P+R on S. Side and height barriers.

Person answering went away to check and confirmed 'no height barrier.'

We arrived to find a ........height barrier!

Fortunately there is an office block CP nearby and it was w/e. approached Security, who happened to be Polish so Basia's Polish clicked in and we were allowed to park there.

And...if you need LPG there are a few places on the east side of the town were you can fill up whilst heading for the P&R.

Stayed at the Newcraighall park and ride a couple of weeks ago for two nights. No height barrier, 50p for 24hrs parking. Frequent trains think it was £4 return. Quiet at night and a pub across the road with food.

Loads of free parking spaces on the side roads in Joppa where I live next to Portobello on the beach. Plenty buses to take you into Edinburgh from there. But if you would rather you had park and ride there is one just outside Musselburgh in wallyford or another in newcraighall where you can get the train right into the centre of edinburgh.

Would be good to know if you could post locations please? I always use the guy at Newcraighall who is great. Don't fill the tank that often but would good to know where they all are.

With regard to parking, you could always come into Edinburgh in the van and park down at Marine Drive, SilverKnowes just along from the Edinburgh Caravan and Motorhome Club site. Lots of space and a wide road and a bus stop about 100m away with access to the city in 15 minutes. Also a great stop over for the night.

I use the Fill LPG app and Yes Miller Hill is one of the sites. The other three (East city side) being Shell Easthouses, Shell Musselburgh and Seaton Engineering, Port Seaton. Looking at the app this morning Musselburgh and Port Seaton are showing "temp out of stock". Other Two have stock. Further West Morrisons at Bathgate are showing stock..

Worth a call first in all cases. My last refill was at Broadford on Skye so enough on board at the moment. Good luck.

Not sure if it has already been said but the P&R near the airport has dedicated mh bays. Tram or bus to the centre.

No overnight stops.

Also if you are in The Borders area LPG at Johnson's Oil in Newtown St Boswell's just off the A68. Phone ahead first but they are a major distributor of heating oil and gas. Also ask that the VAT is at 5% as it's for domestic use. Mon to Fri, cash only check opening times 🙂
