Hang on while I look at my watch
A long shot but does anyone know of an emergency contact number for Eddie? I'm on a site in Norfolk with a problem with my non starter.

I don't sorry, Im assuming you've tried the ones on the website? I'll tag Eddie in this message to draw attention incase he's browsing 'tinternet out and about though eddievanbitz

Eddie I believe doesn’t have anything to do with Vanbitz I think he has handed it over to his son, don’t quote me mind you.

But he’s a good guy and will help if he can.

What's the issue - someone on here might have had a similar problem and have a solution.

Two I've experienced:
1) a van was parked up and either couldn't get a signal to unlock, or was too close to a mast...
Solution was to tow the van a few hundred feet.

2) My van suddenly wouldn't re-start after moving to the motorhome service point.
Solution, simply recycle the non start sequence - block ignition, then unblock ignition
The van started no problem

My non starter is the old type where you text it to set it or turn it off. I've sent it the text 02 to turn it off but it hasn't worked. My Lebara account had money in it so that isn't the issue. I've now disconnected it completely but for some strange reason the immobiliser is still set. Even disconnected I'm getting a van alarm when I try to start the vehicle. Very strange

Eddie has been in touch. Even on a Sunday that's a great service.
He’s very well known for it. I’ve had him call me at 6.30pm to answer a query!
Very very good after sales indeed, above and beyond IMHO👍

As a side note:
I was in Cornwall
I set my metatrack non starter.
A few days later I tried to unset it.
Tried everything, it would not work.
Eventually called metatrack help desk, they were very good and gave me a solution.

The reason why it had failed was the mobile phone signal in that area of Cornwall was very flaky and the van was not picking up the signal.

I now check at least 2 bars minimum before I set the non-starter

I only set the nonstarter when parked at home where there is a risk of break in to steal the key and take the van. I don't bother with it when out and about. I am happy to rely on the Strikeback alarm and factory immobiliser to protect against keyless theft

If the van is taken I would remotely immobilise once alarm sounded

Shame really as now your van is only as reliable as your phone signal.
Not a good solution in this day and age of hi technology 😮

I think the idea is that you don’t immobilise the vehicle normally, but if it is stolen then the system notifies you that the vehicle has moved and you can immobilise it to stop them travelling far.
I have it and it’s great.

The mobile signal in much of Cornwall is rubbish unfortunately! I have a non starter fitted to my MH, and bad signal strength is something I am concerned about. However, it has not been an issue so far, despite only having a single bar strength where the van is stored!

Perhaps that's a misunderstanding of the system & it's purpose?

I do not think that is completely correct (unless I have misunderstood your meaning). My understanding is the system will only honour the block command, if the vehicle is stopped and the ignition is off. Otherwise there is a danger of causing injury and damage if the vehicle simply turned off while rolling!

I purchased an override module in case of signal issues.

That’s correct, so scrote drives motor stops for fags/chippy/garage, I immobilise it he can’t move so runs away, metatrac shows me where the van is and police are informed.

Ah that would make sense, the vehicle would then stop when you enter a network coverage area 👍

Steve, depending on the model, you can disable the non starter with your phone via Bluetooth, the app on your phone (two layers of security) also has the emergency function to enable starting👍 So even if zero signal you can get going again👍

To much technology for me I’m afraid 🤣

It really is easy Steve, I can’t put a leisure battery on, or a B2B, inverter, shunt or any of that stuff and I know you can, so the app would be easy for you👍
Not a chance I’m an old school retard 🤣🤣 anyway no one would nick an old Iveco 👍
