You usually need a separate controller.

Can you post a picture?

I have attached the EC200 spec. I have the same unit. My solar I connected to my hab batteries via a mppt controller. As far as I'm aware there is no input for solar and if there is it will only support minimum wattage. I don't know why a separate battery charger has been added unless the integrated one isn't working.
Hope it helps.

thanks for your reply seperate battery charger i think that its something to do with the 240 volt supply . i just connected solar straight to leasure batts. do u know how to get 12 volt supply going to habitation when engine is running. thanks

The leisure batteries should be charged while the engine is running via the split charge relay. The solar will still charge also if wired direct via a controller.
P.S Did you receive the EC200 spec I sent.
Phil.

breeks The 12v in the habitation area should not work when the engine is running, this is normal and correct. Have you also fitted a solar controller between the solar panel and the leisure battery as is required ?

yes i have fitted a controller .i had a1995 hymer.it was written off in france 2 years ago.. i just got this autotrail a few weeks ago and know that the 12v cuts out when engine is running, which is a pain especialy when the fridge is not working on 12v .every other van i have had did not have this.so want to disable it.

There is a mod you can do to get your hab electrics working while driving.

The 12V as said will be disabled when the engine is running with the exception of the fridge this should work on 12V. I'll try and resend the ec200 Info.

The Sargent Electrical website has a user manual section and the PSU 2007 manual shows the engine running signal connection if that is any help, also I think the fridge, which should only work on 12v with engine running , relay/fuses may be near the starter battery

think i should get a replacement or leave as it is
Looks like the EC200 built in charger has failed and a replacement has been wired into the unit to maintain the working features of the power supply unit.

If everything is working ok I would leave it as it is doing the same job as the original inbuilt one (better maybe) the fridge not working on 12v with the engine running is probably a fuse or relay fault and that needs to be checked . (or the fridge may be faulty)
