I have a Erberspatcher Hydronic diesel heated fitter to my 2005 Hymer B680, it works well to pre-heat and assist with warming up the engine quickly .
It would be nice to be able to use the unit occasionally without the engine running as a auxiliary heater.
I know its possible to buy a Eberspacher mini timer and control unit but at £400 its isn't really worth it as I could just buy complete Chinese heater for just over £100.
Has anyone managed to get there heater to work without having to purchase the mini timer ?

most of the preheaters are vehicle specific and run with the host vehicles can bus. Many years ago there was a guy who was using ,i think maestro or landrover ones but it was a bit complicated electronically and both of those probably pre dated canbus

As my Hymer is 2004 chassis I think it's pre can bus, I had a 2008 Rapid on Mercedes and that was definitely Can bus.

Hi,

Yes it can be done to all sprinters with the diesel add heater.

I did it myself on my 2001 Sprinter 416cdi with a kit.

My 2009 and 2013 sprinters, I did the wiring but I had to get Mercedes at Bridgend to program it and store it in Mercedes’ system.

“Trek” Recomended Mercedes at Bridgend to me.

I will try and find my posts

Thanks much appreciated.

I think this is the kit you need for your model

Part number

I got mine from a place in Yorkshire. The kit included a 7 day timer. Only hard part was getting to the back of the Mercedes sprinter heating controls. Then I had to wire a harness from there to over the hab door which is where I fitted the timer.

On 2006 onwards, it’s a lot easier .

You change the single booster switch for a double. Then just one extra wire from the dash switch to the heater.

Mercedes then re-program the system and you use the switch or timer controls in the speedometer dash to set times (the versions with steering wheel controls are easier).

Not not all 2006 NCV3 Sprinters have the factory boost/rest Heater. Most of the Earlier V6’s did.

If you are not understanding me too well, send me a PM with your phone number and I can call you.

Yes whatever happened to Trek, a very knowledgable chap on facts?

Yes understand that the kit you suggested but at nearly five hundred pounds would sort it, plus Mercedes reprogramming cost would make it not a worthwhile excercise.
Thanks very much for your advice.
