Given that Hitlers Eagle’s next is closed to visitors I assume due CC19 ,Does anybody know if it can actually be seen from anywhere or is it the case that you have to do the tour ? Many thanks

The area is open, just not the Eagles Nest
Info from https://www.uncommon-travel-germany.com/eagles-nest-germany.html

I went there years ago as part of a self paced walking holiday with mrskevenh :)
The Eagles Nest is interesting. And if you can get close enough gives you great views all round the area.

Though my highlights of the holiday were the walks to near by glaciers.

Can you not just sneek up on top of the cable car at night? You may inform us of your success; you be broadsword and we'll be Danny-bhoy...

I'll get my other coat...
Bus and lift when we went last year. You are not allowed to drive up where the busses go.

thanks for this , I guess I need to check if the buses are running if the eagles nest is closed.
I'd check for the latest news, but from the link above
Note: The Eagle's Nest building and restaurant is closed for 2020 due to COVID; they are doing renovations in the meantime. No buses are running up there, though presumably it would be possible to hike up for the views.
