As anyone bought a Duvalay sleeping system what do think, size, topper thickness and tog, reviews please.. thank you.

Yep we got them and love them.. Without checking I think 25mm base and we had to get the thinner summer tog cause thicker once really too warm even in winter
We like fact it's like a sleeping bag but with open side so you can roll it back over you if too warm and let legs dangle out.
It also rolls up neatly to stow but ours stay on beds all time
WARNING.... it can be quite a challenge putting it all back together after washing.
Highly recommend

We use 40mm Duvalay's, and find the 4.5 tog and microfibre filling keeps us warm enough.
Nice and easy to roll out and quick and easy to pack away in the morning.
Very comfy and we would not give ours up.

We brought them for the T5 and they were great however now we have a Hymer we do not need them.

We use them and love the quality of sleep they provide . Kids have one each and we use a duvalay mattress with a fitted sheet in the overcab bed

I had one and HATED it with a passion. Worst money I ever spent :(

This is the post I made on the subject on my blog back then...

I have finally bought one of these much talked about Duvalay matress topper and duvet combined. I am stuck as to why people recommend them so much to be honest.

Up until now I have been using a standard double duvet which I doubled over. I slept in between it using it as both the base and the cover.

The reason I went for the Duvalay is that it is tricky to get a double duvet into the cover in such a small van. I thought that the duvalay would make this much easier with the cover and base being zipped up separately.

Anyway, First impressions were not good. The material felt lightweight and cheap to me. It was replacing a cheap cotton cover I got from Wilkos. It feels like a mixture of nylon and cotton like a cheap sleeping bag. The fit feels a bit poor with the duvet internal not really feeling quite at home in the cover. If you want to have it opening the opposite way you need to turn it inside out which means the zips are on the inside. I didn’t think this would be a problem but the base cover is not fitted and every night the cover twists round the memory foam base so that the zip ends up running the full length of where you want to sleep. You end up with red lines running down your body and some discomfort from them. I am sure if I used it the correct way round this wouldn’t be quite such an issue. Also over a period of a few days the matress topper element can wrinkle up and sometime the only way to correct this is to unzip it all and refit it all back together. This is also not as easy as I had hoped it would be.

Over all for £120 I am seriously disappointed. It is still a very very small step up from a doubled over duvet but not by much. I won’t be buying another. For £120 I will buy a couple of cheap single duvets and get a seamstress to modify them to my design.

If you still want to buy one you can get them from here. http://www.duvalay.co.uk/4cm-luxury-sleeping-bag

Other people are still raving about them so it may just be my set up that is causing the issues….

After I posted this review I stuck with it for longer. But the memory foam developed a crease right at lower shoulder height which made it unusable and I ended up binning the whole thing.

Also, don't think Jim is a fan either?

We bought the Duvalays' after trying both sleeping bag and the regular household Duvay/sheet arrangments. Expensive for what they are but certainly wouldn't be without them. The winter 'Duvay', as has been said, is not needed, it was too hot in the van at -5 Deg., 'C'. Also recommend the 'cool' fabric which costs a bit more than the standard.

The mattress 'topper' thickness depends on what you are going to be sleeping on, we have a 'proper' mattress so could have got away with the thinner topper.

I disliked my duvalay. I felt trapped and couldn’t stick my feet out when they got hot. It was also a faff getting it back in the cover after washing. It is basically a topper and a quilt zipped together!
I now have a topper and separate quilt and I much prefer it.

We like ours. Around 2.5cm of memory foam, just enough to take the edge off the rather firm seat bolsters in our Elddis. In our previous van with older squishier cushions it was downright luxurious.

Material on ours seems like high thread count cotton, it’s nice and cool to the touch and the duvet part seems pretty warm without being heavy. Never felt cold at night, even in November in our old tin can with no heating
