Good evening, thinking of exploring D&G for a long weekend next weekend and came across Glentrool, has anyone stayed here, it opens next Friday so just in time.

We are looking for something that offers forest cycling near by (not mountain biking, just normal cycling) and is open at the moment, prefer site rather than Wilding.

Stayed a number of times . Love the site and it's ideal for your cycling. The two ladies who own and run it are very helpful too. Pub restaurant three minutes walk. Go the other way and a 15-20 min walk takes you to visitors centre with terrific cafe. Think you need sat for tv reception and certain mobile providers don't get a signal.
I was there the week before they closed for winter , and will prob go back as soon as possible.
If you're lucky and no clouds , it's a dark skies area , stars by the million.
You could cycle the three miles to Bruce's Stone , flat until last 800- 1000yds.
If you're feeling energetic you could climb the Merrick.
Love the place, but , not if you NEED tv and are reliant on internet.
