Dumetic v thetford fridge

My dometic rm8501 fridge is coming to the end of its life it’s 20 years old the new model is £1400 to buy the alternative is a thetford n4100 at £800 my question is has anyone replaced a dometic with a thetford and are they a good alternative

If the price is like for like, ie 3 way energy,and it fits, buy the Thetford. Dometic are overpriced especially on spares. The plastic trays they use are always breaking.

I’ve gone Dometic to Thetford (different model to yours though), cooling gubbins on the back is the same on both! Works well.

20 years old? I thought the 8000 series only came out around 2010.

Considering there are far more Dometic fridges fitted in caravans & Motorhomes there appears to be a lot of problems reported on the Thetfords considering the smaller numbers in use.
