While checking the battery which appears to be sealed I came across this, so what's under the lid? ::bigsmile:

PS; i know this because around 7 years ago a "D**k h**d " of a mechanic removed mine then removed a fuel pipe connector and switched on the ignition.......

result was a fuel fountain!!!

and an expensive bill for the garage owner...

I can beat that, difficult bolt to get at on the steering rack. Cut a hole in the footwell to undo it and then just put carpet back!

Was only found when in heavy rain and wife was getting wet feet. 😬

What's under here? Does it matter? What I have noticed is the design on the circular cover. Why have the lines got different gaps? I bet there was a reason for this design for regular gaps would have been so much simpler.

thats an easy one1. look where the closest lines are ... they are in the area of the fixing bolts to add strength to the most stressed areas. also as the plastic cover is not that thick and the veins add strength.

also under the larger of the circular rims is a round thick seal.

Does it really tell you this in the handbook? Fascinating! Every day I learn to respect the designers of such anonymous items more and more.
