I've just seen these on Facebook - Top idea. :drinks:
A lot better then paying £40 each for pro plates and easier to fit.

I've just ordered two -----

We make these ourselves and the leads at differing lengths.

webbing and the fittings are not to expensive to buy if you get a few fittings at a time And a roll of webbing.
we also use the webbing for storm guy ropes for awnings and tents.
a lot stronger than a bit of skinny cord and less likely to cause and damage to awnings in a high wind.

also easy to hold and adjust when wet.

eBay.

My wife made these up, cost us about £6 in total. I know the buckles could be more meaty, but they’re designed to use whilst we’re inside and wanted to be able to quick release in case of emergency. Orange so we have a better chance of seeing them in poor light. They tuck away out of sight when not in use. (y)

We use two of these, one through each door pull. There’s just enough to run through the steering wheel with the front seats turned round. They are m/cycle locking straps.

Ratchet strap through the steering wheel for me and a dead lock on the hab, and once they’ve manage to conquer those the Growler will go off👍

Use a couple of those to secure our chairs and tables to each other whilst out, or at night, to save putting them away. (y)

I just use the seat belt - loop it the same way as the strap and give it a sharp tug to lock the inertia reel. I like free things :giggler:
What about those of us who have slamming side doors and twin slamming back doors. :ROFLMAO:

I use a padlock motorbike chain through the handle and the steering wheel. 2 birds, 1 stone. But like your idea.

Good, but pricey, l used a ratchet strap from screwfix (£5.00) that went through both passenger and driver door handles, then neither door could open from outside
That is £3.29 for two and so easy to fit. No threading just clunk click :drinks: :hugs:

Just seen this. Probably being a bit thick but how does the other end attach. My Ducato internal door pull does not open up all the way through?

You've just made me think again about them even though I been using them every night for two years.
My Ducato door pulls are all the way through.
I drilled them to take dog lead bit but having just looked at them again I'm sure I can come up with simpler method of holding them together.
The ty-wraps are only temporary.

I preferred the pro plates rather than have someone punch holes in the door that would then rust in due course. In the dark they probably won't see the straps so will have a go at the doors anyway but the pro plates are visible on the outside.

I bought these off a Funster

I attached them using the bolt that was already in place. I did intend getting installing riv nuts into the door but the bolts I actually used are riv nuts already installed, so I can remove the security simply enough and leave it as 'stock'.
The other end simply hooks over the seat belt fixing.

I did the same, easy to fit, tighten and remove.

Hi folks,
Some of these straps look really neat and tidy - many cannot be seen when in use - if you use a bright strap across the cab, that can be seen - the person looking through the window can see it is not worth forcing the lock. Better they see the security you have before they start to do damage. When we had a two door cab, we used a bright orange strap across both door handles that could be seen from the other side of the carpark - it was like a sign that said '*&%$ off' or 'Don't bother'.

We have the same… bright orange 🧡

Apparently we had three visitors at stupid o'clock one night last week.

I'm sure that one of the things that might have put them off was that we only have one door, (yes, really)
I can imagine the panic ensuing if they should be put in the position of devanning in a hurry.

Seems fairly easy to drop the seatbelt buckle down behind the armrest and into the seatbelt clip of the rotated seat. Pull tight and jerk the strap and you have at least a layer of protection for free. If you’re worried about the strap being cut at the bottom then add a kevlar sleeve (available in pairs from Amazon).

It must be me but why are folk using these straps etc ….. isn’t it just cleaner and quicker to fit a decent alarm system to the van that detects movement or door openings?
What am I missing ?

What am I missing ?
The medieval approach to security. a layered approach ie at various levals
visible: yellow or orange physical security
overt: non visible (electronic alarm system based on physical and IR or uitrasonic inspection.) may have visible labels or armed leds.
Covert: any system you hide from the perps. eg tracker electronic ignition disabling, electrical or physical disabling devices. eg hidden fuel pump switches, "remove the distributor cap" or equivalent. On my Comandos the Boyer electronics box is converted to plug in and lives in coat pocket or window cill. The physical devices didnt stop them taking it away but was left 1/4 mile away because the couldnt start it.

The costs -
Which can be significantly more ---- compared to this £2.99 investment

I would say why not both - they will put off different people. The physical strap no matter how big the box of electronics someone might have, will need to be broken. it also says 'we think about security so this van is not a soft touch - bugger off and try the one down the road, dirtbag'.
