where did you find that info?it guarantees outstanding reliability and durability thanks to the torque converter that makes up for the lack of traditional clutch.
I read the blurb in the second link posted by Electraglide "Fiatpress"where did you find that info?

Found it didn't realise Electraglide had posted different links I thought it was a double post.where did you find that info?
I wonder if it is still a robotised box though just with a torque converter rather than "auto clutch"interesting the new 9 speed auto is a torque converter, not robotised manual
Thats Still 8 speed in 2020 model update I believe and I would think it would be too big for the end of an East West engine. The 9HP is a ZF 9 speed for transverse engines so that is my bet and according to a bit of googling its control module has Fiat part number on it.I can't imagine FIAT building a 9 speed manual gearbox!! I would expect it to be a version of the IVECO auto box.
Our 3 litre 3 series BMW is the ZF 8 speed but not DSG, M3 might be though but I can't fault ours.Lets hope it a DSG gearbox like fitted in Audi's & BMW's, we have had two, so impressed with the seamless changes, workshop guy told me "it works on Fuzzy Logic"I wonder if it was designed by a lady then?

I agree about the Audi DSG, absolutely fantastic. I think DSG goes with robotised rather than torque converter gearboxes.Lets hope it a DSG gearbox like fitted in Audi's & BMW's, we have had two, so impressed with the seamless changes, workshop guy told me "it works on Fuzzy Logic"I wonder if it was designed by a lady then?

Been running in the US for a few years I think and they have about sorted the problemsOh god no. 9 gears to go wrong instead of 6. Hope they have done there homework on this one.
It does seem like there are quite a few major changes and a proper "auto" box would be quite desirable in my opinion, I guess the first vans on these chassis will be shown at Dusseldorf in September and then first delivery will start a few months after, so who is waiting for the new spec?I also read that there was a choice of double din Android Auto or Apple Carplay head units, as well as the ability to up the idle speed amongst other goodies. Drool...
A "proper auto" is something I want on our next van, so it will certainly make more choices available to us.It does seem like there are quite a few major changes and a proper "auto" box would be quite desirable in my opinion, I guess the first vans on these chassis will be shown at Dusseldorf in September and then first delivery will start a few months after, so who is waiting for the new spec?

It would be worth asking, but expect to pay a premium over what the previous version is selling for.Oooh, this sounds interesting. We're hoping to order a new Motorhome at, or just before the NEC. We will be going for an auto model, I wonder if it will be on the new chassis?
Unlikely IMO. All the twin clutch box drawings I've seen use conventional gears but are definitely NOT robotised manuals. Robotised manuals are totally conventional (just like a manual box) innards with a conventional clutch all operated by servos/software. Nine speeds certainly cannot be achieved in a compact space using a conventional gearset so the new box will need epicyclic gears. These can only be installed in a compactI wonder if it is still a robotised box though just with a torque converter rather than "auto clutch"

And column change?Nine speeds, b hell I often forget I have a sixth gear, was quite happy in the days when I only had three forward gears.
