What year is the van?

That doesn't bode well for Ducato; cracked spring eyes on the rear and a recall for cracked knuckle joints on the front!!!!!!!!!

was 2008 I think around 50k miles
Thanks - I've not seen it on a motorhome before, though have possibly heard occasionally of cracked springs. But interesting to see the pictures of where they failed.

Although potentially a bit expensive, probably a good thing the problem was discovered.

Will you replace them yourself or get the garage to do it?

Changed springs and retested today, this was the broken eye from offside spring which fell apart as soon as the shackle bolts were loosened

Mmmm. My 2007 Ducato van with 80k had the leaf springs replaced at the last MOT. It was a 3.3t and 5.4m, so the light chassis. The guy said they'd cracked at the ends. I assumed he meant the bushings. But maybe it was this?

yes probably like this, the car transporter we saw last year was the same

In keeping with Fiats Non Bump stops they will be spring expansion slots

The Fiat and Talbot vans we used for breakdowns had heavier springs fitted early in there life. The ones in our area had an extra leaf fitted to the original springs because we couldn’t get springs from the dealers.
There were a couple with broken eyes but the main reason for changing them was the lack of traction when towing. Even with winter tyres fitted pulling away from junctions in the wet weather caused wheel spin.
Some vehicle faults seem to disappear to come back later when we had forgotten.
