Driving licence turn around

Has anyone sent off there licence? If so what time scale before it came back.
Need to send a medical form with it .
But don't want it lost 😭 or stuck in a pile as I want to go through France in January 🤠
 
Sent mine off for renewal 1st week august.not received as yet.i managed to contact DVLA and was advised it was being processed. If my licence expires then section 88 applied and I can still drive.they sent me an email with the section 88 details on. (y)
 
Sent for grandsons first provisional in MAY !!
Still waiting.. Online search shows its there and "pending".. :doh:
 
My post from yesterday. Lots on here particularly C1 renewal. Standard renewals on line are supposed to be ok. Sent my C1 renewal 14th June and had an email acknowledgement of receipt 14th July, approximately 12 weeks wait now. Did get through to medical department who advised OK to carry on driving as long as D4 was OK. Not a lot of use if you wish to travel abroad, hire a car or have a courtesy car.
gloworm Hi Eric, they must think that you are still driving tanker trucks, lock your doors cos I think the press gangs will be after you :RollEyes:
 
DVLA received mine 30 July. If you dig deep in their website it tells you when they will process it based on date of receipt. I think mine's due to be done in a couple of weeks.

Over 70 licence with no C1 entitlement sent on 2 September nothing heard yet
 
We want to book a ferry but can't till we know I have my licence back. Depending how long it takes I might get a temporary Class 1 job up until Christmas. It'll pay for a few weeks in Spain!
 
D2+D4 sent 22nd sept. DVLA web site says licence renewal from 2 Oct.2021 Until 1 Oct. 2024 just have to wait until hard copy licence arrives

Sent mine off mid August with D4, nothing back yet

But only allowed to drive in UK, not EU

I started the process by requesting the forms at beginning of March, so that i could get it in 90 days before expiry, at end of May,
Have chased, been told it is with medical team, had to have a second medical, and still no licence

I don't need it for the EU but if I did I could have requested an ordinary licence to drive without the C1 as my van is less than 3.5t as a temporary measure ,but I want to retain my C1 ,just in case I change to a larger van.
 
My wife's licence had expired in July but she didn't notice till August. In her panic she went on line to renew it, she didn't notice that she had entered one of the none official websites.
She paid £60. Only then did we realise she been conned as the renewal should have been about £17.
With some frustration we accepted her mistake.
However she received her new licence by the 10th September.
I don't know why but it was very quick service.
 
Still awaiting mine applied 28 April, lots of chasing MP involved, now got to go for ECG on friday, customer service dept involved. Join the phone queue if you have a lot of hours to waste.

Now received a letter stating that i need to have an examination / consultant with a diabetic specialist, as i use very small amounts of insulin.
Have already had a second eye test, with their chosen optician, who confirmed that all is fine,
Had a second medical with my own GP, at DVLA expense, which confirmed that all is OK,
Now the letter states "A report by any GP is not acceptable" so why send me for the second appointment with my GP???????????
You could not make this up
DVLA is not fit for purpose.

my wife has been waiting for 11 weeks now for her license to be changed bless the DVLA
 
Sent OH's licence off about six months ago which expired on 20 June. Haven't heard a dickie bird. I'm going to start rattling someone's cage very shortly.
 
I really think as a Club, we should have a collective agreement as to a specific course of action.

It is not acceptable to have a curtailment in our right to travel abroad.

I respectfully suggest that, say, four weeks is sufficient time for a Gov. organisation to turn around a request for a post 70yrs licence renewal.

If we had a systematic approach to complaining at first instance and following that up, say 2 weeks later with a complaint to our MP. then they just might pull their finger out.

It would be of no surprise to me if approaches of complaints by MP's had to be recorded and would be subject of scrutiny by Select Committees.

The dates given on their website are pure fantasy and bear little resemblance to what is actually happening.
They are a convenient way to inform the press and MP's that everything is under control.

Looks like might be sending my bits and bobs off with no licence,
 
My wife did mine for me on line. It took less than a week to receive the new licence. I think it was easier/quicker because I had recently renewed my passport.
