Hi,
Is it still ok to park overnight at Dover on Marine Parade or any other suggestions.
Also, we will be crossing to Dunkirk and would appreciate a campsite recommendation not too far away. Intended destination is Croatia, via Luxembourg, Germany etc.

Many thanks
Mathilde

I pretty sure you cannot use the Marine Parade anymore .There is designated overnight stop a Canterbury ,which is about 30 mins from the ferry terminal

Thanks, but we need to be actually in Dover due to commitments.
Also, we plan to buy the ACSI book on arrival in England, so if someone knows of a campsite near Dunkirk in ACSI that would be wonderful.

Do not know about campsites near Dunkirk but we have just got back from Holland and used the Aire at Gravlines near Dunkirk. This Aire for location is ideal for the Ferries or Tunnel Only E7 a night

Could you give me the location of the Aire at Grapvine. I can't find it on google maps. Is this E7 including electric hookup?

Follow signs off the motorway for Gravline. As you come into the village you will see signs for Aire. No EHU. N 50˚59´17˝ E 2˚7´20˝ Room for 30 vans.

You could never officially park caravans/motorhomes, never mind overnight, on Marine Parade at Dover. That is at the port end near the Gateway Flats and the Hotel. However at the marina end is the Esplanade where there are bays marked for caravans and trailers. We have often parked there overnight (not camped) while awaiting an early morning ferry. The meters stop at 6pm if I remember correctly on the Esplanade.
With the current road works this situation may have changed.

My video will show you the way to the aire from the A16 motorway, just north of Calais.
No electric hook-up on the aire but plenty of space, nice views over the water and an interesting town just a short stroll away.

There is long-term work being carried out in the area of Western Docks so the western end of the Esplanade is closed off. However there is a plus side to this. Little or no traffic passing during the night.

You will have to approach The Esplanade from the east (car ferry area) and turn left on to Wellesley Road (GPS N 51.124072, E 1.315823) and then turn right along the sea front. Parking is payable from 09:00 - 17:00. If you intend to stay after 09:00 in the morning then it is possible to pay the night before and the timing for the ticket starts at 09:00.

I have had a look in a copy of the 2017 ACSI book and the nearest site listed is just over the Belgian border near De Panne at ADINKERKE - cost 17€ until 30 June.

If you would like me to look for an alternative, please let me know.

If you are heading east, then in the same area and as an alternative to the Adinkerke ACSI site (17E) you will find a very nice (free) aire at Veurne right by the canal and a short walk from shops etc. Enjoy.

There is a car park/ stop point at Dunkirk terminal, just in front of the ticket building, we get the boat late, and stop there. Never had any issues, safer there than anywhere in Dover IMO

Thank you all so much...brilliant help.
