Dear Fellow campers

I was just wondering if the price goes up like airline seats the nearer you leave it to time you want to go.

Ii see at the moment the cheapest one way fare Dover to Calais for our 5.79m long motorhome is £58 leaving around midday on 6th June 2018.

Thank you for you input and advice as we have never done this before.

Simple answer, yes, as the boats and trains fill the price increases. If you are getting a good deal now then grab it, it may not be around for long.

Don't use the ferries now as we take out a 'Frequent Traveller' package for the tunnel.
Until 3 years ago I used to book P&O Dover/Calais and could never see any difference in price between booking 48 hrs before and weeks/months before. At that time I think we were usually paying about £112 return for 7.9 m van, but might be wrong on that.
After 48 hrs the price does shoot up for last minute bookings.

The earlier you book your ticket usually works for us .I tend to pay a bit more for a flexi ticket so if we arrive early there is no hanging about ,needless to say also reduces the stress if you are late due to traffic or other problems.

Varies year to year often if they have plenty of space the price will go down a day or two befor sailing, if they are fullish it will go up.
