We have a beautiful Laika at present but we're keeping our options open as my husband has a birthday coming up and we might have to downsize. We've been looking at MHs today of 3500. The problem I have, is so many have a toilet door that is also a bedroom door. So you can close one or the other IYSWIM.

Has anyone any suggestions for a 3500 MH with separate doors to the bedroom and loo? British build will not be considered.

look at Burstner. Ours has a shower room and toilet either side of the van next to the bedroom. There is a sliding door between the bedroom and bathroom and the toilet door when open closes off the bathroom from the kitchen/ living area. This makes the bathroom a self contained “en suite” type of thing.
Probably easier to visualise looking at the floor plan picture.

Our Pilote has bedroom/bathroom door and a sliding door as well.

Our Adria Matrix 670 sl has a separate concertina door and solid bedroom door.

Can any of those suggested be usable under 3500kg though?

There are some with a rear bathroom, with door, and a sliding door to close off the Bedroom?. Have a look at the Rapido range?.

Good point. Although our van was originally 3500kg with a payload of around 370kg, we opted for the 3850kg upgrade. We travel light!
There are shorter models ( ours is 7.5m) with a similar bathroom layout that should offer a larger payload and still be under 3500kg.

My Rapido has those but no chance of being usable at 3500, Rapidos are heavy.
I think most of the 7 series, are under 3500?. I agree, you won`t get away with it on the "A" class.

However, as has been discussed before. Very few Sub 3500, Motorhomes have any decent payload.

Our Rapido 7065+ has pretty much the same layout as the current 665f

It's perfect for two of us full timing as we can watch different things on telly (and it allows us to have separate rooms when we're not talking!) but as above it would be a challenge to keep it below 3500kg but not impossible.
Ours weighs in at 3700kg in living trim - two people, 3.0litre comfortmatic, two bikes on the rear rack, full fridge/freezer, full water & fuel, empty grey and black, full garage (which is small so helps weight), twin leisure batteries, 3kw inverter, 360W solar panels, crystop satellite system. If you're more organised than us then 3500kg could be doable

And in a separate but connected theme, me and Mrs Emmit have just (after 6yrs???) discovered that in the depths of winter, at altitude, on a frosty night, closing the concertina door between the bedroom and hab. area makes a huge difference to the temperature in the bedroom.

The Rapido 7090 is almost a dead ringer layout for the 712?. And has the sliding door to cut off the bedroom area. This is a 2008, but gives the idea?.

Under 3.5t Payloads, have been a contentious issue for some time now.

My personal view being that the B-B1 licence limit could easily be raised to 4t without in many cases the chassis/structure of the `van being changed (paper exercise alone will get a "light" Alko chasssis to 3.7t).
