I have a Bailey Approach Autograph 625. The central pin has dropped out of one of the hinges of the habitation door. If I go to Bailey I have to buy a pack of three hinges at the astonishing price of £80.99 + vat + postage. Here is a link to the Bailey parts web site https://www.primaleisure.com/product/1120268

Does anyone know of a cheaper fix or solution? Has anyone got a spare hinge they would like to sell me?

Why not just replace the pin ? ( sorry if the reason is obvious but it seems that would be the easiest and cheapest option )

I would do just that if I knew where to get the pin from.

Thanks for the offer, but sadly I have neither of those two devices. I am thinking of ringing Dometic on Monday to see what they can suggest. I will try to get the dimensions of the pin from them.

No need to ring them, they'll say the same....new hinge, or a pack, at exorbitant price.
Measure across the hole with a ruler... Almost certainly going to be in whole mm's.

There are loads of us on here with both lathes and the time to knock one out for you.. Even if someone has to buy a bit of rod cost would still be less than a tenner inc post to you :)
Oh, and a cheapo digital vernier is only about £15 or so, so still miles cheaper to buy one and get a pin made up ! :)

Thanks to all who replied. The hole into which the missing pin would slot is either 7 or 8 mm in diameter. Sorry I cannot be more precise. (Had not seen the suggestion to use drill bits as a measuring aid). I have also attached a photo showing the underside of the hinge. Any suggestions from knowledgeable funsters would be appreciated.

Ideally need to know if 7 or 8mm
One way too sloppy, other way will not fit !
Do the drill check and let us know :-)

What about trying a flat headed nail. About 4" or 6"? It might just give you a temporary solution until a permanent one appears. 👍

Just an update for all those who kindly offered assistance. One idea proffered was to measure the diameter of the missing pin by inserting a drill bit into the hinge where the pin should go. I did this with a drill bit exactly the right dimensions - and left it there! Works like a dream. All I need now is an end cap.

Is it stainless and have the required tensile strength?
If not might you get rust marks running down the door? Will it break?

You shouldn’t need an end cap, surely. Doesn’t the grub screw in the middle pinch the hinge pin in the centre section, keeping it in place? A dab of high melting point grease in the top recess to ensure no future rusting may also help.
