We spotted a new to us Burstener tag axle at Oaktree Motorhomes this Saturday morning. Phoned and arranged a visit today. Sold at 1630 yesterday. Whilst doing out homework spotted same can for sale in hampshire phoned up guess what?
SOLD. Lesson learnt I could and should of gone Saturday 😢

Don't panic there will always be plenty of vans for sale.

You are buying at the wrong time IMO

Lockdown just easing, a clamour for motorhomes because it's considered a safe Holiday.

Have a sit down, open a beer, continue monitoring the market.

BUT grab a bargain in November or December when the clamour and mad rush is over.

Don’t get despondent, its a huge decision to purchase/upgrade. The current climate will calm down and think of all the motorhomes coming back onto the market next year after the staycation newbie crowd decide it’s not for them. Saying that we where all newbies once.

Your both right it was one of them moments you spot a new van
Right price
Right extras
Just what we need then woosh gone from under your nose
Quote a rare van bit another will come up.Just wish we could get outs out still locked down in storage.

I'd definitely stick with what you've got for the time being. As others have said there are likely to be a lot going back to dealers towards the end of the year and prices will also be lower then!

Why would they be damp
Oaktree seem a reputable dealers and i havent any damp in my can.
( tempting fate )

Reason to be cheerful, part 1

i think they were trying to give you a reason to be cheerful (that you hadnt bought one!!) by telling you it was damp

Reason to be cheerful, part 2

you still have a van, albeit in storage

Reason to be cheerful, part 3

Definitely a sellers market at the moment
Hang fire,

i suspect though there will be no NEC show this year, so all dealers will need a Q3 boost, thats when the prices Might soften ( just my crystal ball again)

We have an Ixeo Tme 585 and wouldn’t dream of changing her. Suits us perfectly and we usually travel through Europe for 4 month’s of the year. Ticks all our boxes but people’s needs change and hey, you still have a van to take for a spin😎

Most things are available at a price

Hire one . on the cheap as most up our way have gone to the NHS for isolation accommodation for nurses ( SUNLIGHT Vans) great gesture as no one able to use but a van for hire been used as isolation from Corvis 19? Not really, see if it suits and then make an offer in Nov/Dec on the van you hired..........take of 20% of the list price for the first year (vat) and 5% per year so at least 25% discount plus another 5% for ex rental job done!

We went up to Oaktree in 2009 when looking for our first van to look at a Laika we thought we fancied and it had its FSH in a folder in a cupboard, looked like the previous owner looked after it properly, so tempting, then I said I thought we ought to lower the overcab bed and have a look up there. There was a window lengthways along the front of the overcab - and we easily saw why that meticulous owner had traded it in once we climbed up the ladder. That window leaked - and their being a shelf all round 3 sides of the mattress, with an upstand all around the edge of the mattress - it now had a moat!

Looked at another van - the 1981 Avondale Osprey caravan Pete and his first wife owned from new and they and his 2 daughters, plus his mother, plus sundry dogs, sometimes with their puppies, plus those foster kids (all teenagers) they had at the time had used every weekend and for holidays for many years and which we were still using most weekends plus the eldest granddaughter whose friends on the site we used took it in turns to have sleepovers - was in far better condition. Shedloads of bits of broken off formica and veneer and edging strips, I then opened the cutlery drawer and the teaspoon compartment had all the ruddy bits in it! Who the hell isn't capable of purchasing a tube of UHU and sticking the bits back on? Some people!

Hence we were not impressed whatsoever and decided we'd try somewhere else next weekend. Well we weren't impressed to begin with anyway cos on arrival we went to the office to say we'd like to look at … and the chap said to help ourselves cos none of them were locked - so we didn't bother reporting the moat!

We waited for the right one, viewed a few that weren't quite right, thought we wouldn't find the 'one' as when we did it sold........ Another came up, checked out, made a good deal, traveled 250 miles and bought it on the Sunday before lockdown!!!

At the time thought we should have waited as now couldn't use it, but so glad we didn't wait.

There is always going to be one to come up for you, we took nearly 7 months, just hang in there, but I know how frustrating it can be

We’re paying less for a new Sunlight Van than one hire company wanted for an ex-Hire, 12 months old with 25k on the clock.

You’ve got to shop around. Might be a little more difficult to get a good deal at the moment, but this stampede won’t last forever. (y)
