Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on an issue we've encountered this morning?

I've turned the fridge onto gas and it's started to make lots of noises coming from the burner, as if the flame is being blown?

I removed the vent cover and took off the wind shield to expose the burner. I gave it a quick blow out and had a prod up inside the flue to see if it was gunked up but only small particles of soot came out.

When I fired the fridge up again the burner seemed to run OK with just the odd stutter but as soon as I put the wind shield back on it started spluttering more frequently. When I replaced the vent it just lost its mind and was really going for it.

During this, the freezer started to cool very slowly but the fridge didn't. It's on ehu at the moment and it's all cooling but I need to get this sorted so would appreciate any help or advice.

I've tried to put a couple of videos on to show what's going on but I'm not having any joy with doing that unfortunately.

Take the burner out and clean the jet would be the first thing to try video's on YouTube of how to
When we took my sons out the burner was half full of crud

as above it needs stripping and cleaning, but resist the urge to poke anything into the jet aperture, as guaranteed to cause issues. Sometimes the brass jet is green with corrosion, best to replace it

Thanks for the tips chaps. I cleaned the flue out but I think the burner is knackered. There are a couple of the grills missing due to corrosion and the flame has a lot of orange and isn't uniformed. I've ordered a new burner with ignition and thermocoupler so hopefully that'll sort it

Normally not worth messing around with cleaning the burners, don’t forget to clean the flue though 👍

Mmm, that's what ibthought. I couldn't believe the differences in prices. I saw £148, £124 then Jacksons at £69  I've cleaned the flue out but will give it another clean when the new burner arrives. Thanks. (y)
