Had my roof light open a crack in recent high winds and half way through the night the wind caught it and snapped the U shaped bar which holds it open/shut. I have found and ordered the spare part but I’m a bit unsure of how to fit it.
The bar is attached to the dome with a hinge. The hinge pin looks as if it might just be a push fit, but in the exploded diagram from which I found the part it looks as if the hinge pin may be 2 components and more complicated.
Can anyone advise how you get the hinge pin out and back in again? Photo attached showing the part I mean (and super sophisticated bodge to hold it shut while waiting 6 weeks for the part!). Thanks in anticipation.

Haven’t inspected yet - it is very close to dome and will be hard to reach, unless I remove whole hinge assembly off dome, which would be possible but inconvenient.

I had a look at the spare bar I have in the garage and the inner end of the pin is much smaller. Looks like what u can see from inside is much bigger so the outer part pushes inside. Nothing that u could screw it together with so probably a friction fit.

How about carving a piece of nylon / wood to fit inside the the arm and gluing it in both sides?
It would be stronger than new

Thanks for these replies. The domed end visible in the photo appears to be solid. The domed end is not quite in contact with the hinge body and I think I could get a lever into the crack to prise it. The side of the hinge body I cannot see is quite flat with no visible sign of the pin (which fits with what Bernie 109 has seen on his spare). I think I’m going to assume it is a push fit and try pull it out, unless someone has done this job before and can advise a better way?

Just for the record, in case anyone else finds this thread and wants to know the conclusion. The inner fastening is indeed a capped starlock as Landy Andy suggested. It is easily prized off but needs a new one to refit. I got new ones supplied with the lever arm from Leisure Spares. Job done!
