Fridge not working on mains but fine on gas and 12 v.

It does sometimes work on mains when first switched on with ice cubes freezing but then it switches off without any notice (no alarm or flashing light). it runs fine on gas/ 12v.

Have replaced PCB and element but still same problem.

Anyone have any ideas?

Could be the black modual on the back of the fridge that does the ignition also controls the power switching its a common problem often failing.

Have you checked the voltage of the "mains" going into your van. If its low it can stop the fridge from working in ehu.

I was thinking it might be a faulty/intermittent thermostat but I suppose that when the fridge is on gas it uses the same thermostat and you say it runs O.K. on gas.
On 12v (only when driving along) I don't think that mine is thermostatically controlled.

Dometic have suggested that there is a blockage in the cooler unit as it remains hot at the bottom but cool at the top. Also as Gas is more efficient, then it still works on gas. Anyone had this issu or replaced a cooler unit for this reason? Thanks

When it’s on mains
Well I guess that confirms that the 240v element is working (and you did get ice cubes).
Does it only get hot at the bottom and remain cool at the top when running satisfactorily on gas and 12v? If that is so it would seem to me that there isn't likely to be a blockage in the cooler system.

Just an aside, I replaced a 240v fridge element a couple of years ago and although my recollection of the job is a bit hazy I wonder if you have located the new element correctly as ISTR that it was a bit of a fiddle to ensure that was inserted in the correct position.
Did you check the removed element for continuity/shorting to prove that a faulty element was or wasn't the problem?

(I think you've exhausted your 5 free posts so it's well worth the 20 quid subs to join, although apart from the above I don't think I can help much further).
