Hymer B514
Hi Guys
We’ve just bought a 2015 B514 Hymer with the above tectower. Slight problem, we hadn’t clicked in the excitement of viewing and pick up that there were NO shelves in the fridge!( private sale, previous owner hasn’t got them) Having recovered consciousness from pricing replacements on the Dometic spares site, the second point that occurred is that we are only able to open the door approx 80 degrees due to step up to bed, so even if we did win the lottery and felt like purchasing those stupidly expensive shelves how can we increase access to get them in?
if anyone knows if possible (and how to) to remove the door then we might just be able to get something to fit. I’m sure we’re not the first to encounter this problem so I wai with bated breath for the collective wisdom to resolve my problem 😉
many thanks in anticipation
Julie

Hi have you a picture of the fridge you have .I am asking as i have several fridges i have yet to ebay and spare parts.
usually if you can get to the top door hinge bracket you can then lift the door off the remainder floor bracket

If it is the hard clear plastic shields with 2 lugs on each side that go in runners you hold shelf vertically, engage smaller rear lug in runner then slide that into fridge as you lift front of shelf into horizontal position and fully push into fridge.
I have the RMD 8555 and shelves easy enough to get in and out and my door also does not fully open.... Just read that back... hope it makes sense.

thanks that’s reassuring-obviously the “expensive option! I’ve read they can break easily- hence considering simple acrylic/plexiglass or generic shelves but would need full access insert hence door removal question. Didn’t want to start dismantling unless someone who’s done it can assure us it’s an easy enough job for the idiots that didn’t even check for shelves, to do! 🤣

Dont think they that flimsy or breakable seem relatively sturdy to me. Small lug to rear is shaped so it can go into runner then swivel 90° so then larger front lug simply slides in.
Strange no shelves in your fridge!!

Last two vans have had the 8505 both fridges only came with two full size shelves and the small top one.
Also after recovering from Dometic's prices I made another one.
I used 5mm acrylic cut to size sheet was about 15 quid on ebay. Then I borrowed a band saw and cut it to the shape of a shelf with the locating tabs out.
You would need a load of holes in it for air circulation didn't bother in mine as its on top of the salad beer tray

I just tried it I can get it in & out without the door fully open by tilting it down and getting the front two tabs in before leveling it.
