Hi guys,

I went to the NEC motorhome show earlier this year and saw a motorhome and for the life of me I can't remember who made it???

It's 8 meters long and had a drop down bed at the front that rested on the side tables. There were doors under the bed to close off the cab area and wooden steps that slide out of a cupboard to give access to the bed. It had a large U shaped rear lounge. The kitchen and bathroom were in the middle of the van.

Any ideas?

What was the price? That will narrow it down a bit.

Dethleffs grand alpa

Have a look at the Carthago Liner for Two, that has a layout similar to your description.
I've had a good look at the liner for two and its a lovely looking beast. I liked the Frankia Platinum as well.
We were talking about motorhomes today and Karen mentioned the Duomobile that she thought was a really interesting layout but we couldn't remember the name of it!

I might have to sell several kidney's before we could afford any of them :)

But, you have an idea of what you fancy, when they eventually come onto the S-H market. (y)

Year`s ago we saw a Caravan at the (then) Earles Court show, which we both liked the layout of. Fast forward almost 5 years and shopping for caravan bits at a dealers in Somerset he had one (S-H) on stock. We bought it there and then!. Then we had to buy a car to tow it with too. as ours was not capable!!.:D2

Ah that’s why I can’t seem to find that model then, after reading this yesterday I looked at the HYMER range and loved the one with the single bed pull down over cab and end lounge it looked lovely model and wasent to ride or long

I think Hymer have stopped making the Duomobile?
That's odd. It was only earlier this year I saw it at the NEC. Maybe that was one of the last ones they were selling?

I think the nec show tends to be dealers trying to clear old stock, not necessarily to launch new models.

i too was very taken with that layout = the split single pull down and the huge rear longe
there are 15 Duomobils on Mobile .de and 33 Carthargo liners for two

Not very popular then, everyone is trying to get rid of them.
Popular vans don't stay up for sale very long so never many on sale.

Yes I’m looking at this layout, like the spacious end lounge and kitchen worktops also with side separate shower / toilet. But like you say they must be really popular because there are no second hand ones for sale.
Anyone know of a good British one with this layout and quality ?

Hi I looked at the grand alpa i7820-2 it had a large flat area around the kitchen area, ga lot more room than most, perfect if you have a large dog. It’s on my Christmas wish list.

It sounds like one of the Frankia “Plus” models.

Spoke to a German dealer at the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon this year regarding the Hymer DuoMobil. He confirmed it was now discontinued but he couldn’t understand why as he said they had been very popular.
