Feel like an old timer
I use two BBQ's at home, my big charcoal burner and a gas Cadac, it depends how I feel to which I use and some times I use both. I clean the Cadac cooking plate but never bother to clean the grills on the charcoal burner. What do you do?

We've got a Cadac that looks similar to yours - we are really pleased with it, but no doubt you'll receive lots of comments to the effect that it's not strictly a BBQ! As I say we love ours and we refer to it as a BBQ as well!! 😊

Anyway, we have cut a BBQ / grill mat to fit on top of the Cadac, which means it keeps the grill surface nice and clean, and the grill mat is very easy to clean after each use.

We got the mats online, they're very cheap, and useful. You still get the grill marks from the BBQ grill, plus they are non-stick. 🍖

BBQ quick scrub to get the worst off then over the coals to kill off any bugs quick wipe over with oil and good to go. Had a small cadac got rid of it too hard to clean. We use a single burner cheapy gas ring outside a lot with a non stick pan it's the easiest to clean of the lot.

Always clean the grill...... wire brush and then soapy wash..... not immaculate, but, as said, just for any nasties...... we prefer Charcoal, however, lots of places not allowed, for that we use Cadac, but, interested to hear about grill mat, will try that !!! as it is a pain to clean !!!

I binned the Cadac as it was a sod to clean.

I now have an O Grill and its grand. I wire brush it after each use and clean it properly before it goes back in the van and put some foil in it ready for the next time. It's 4 years old now and still like new.

Got a gas big-un and a charcoal little-un, both grills fit in the sink.
So just get some soapy hot stuff in the sink and chuck the grills in straight from the bbq.
Leave to soak then crud falls off.
Nothing for the mice/bugs to feast on.

:o
Our cadac safari chef 2 is a joy to clean and comes up spotless. High heat at end burns on all the meat fat and the catalyst or something means it scrapes off with an old ice lolly stick. The fat that drops though settles in the water, so wipes out. Just a quick hot water wash.
Looks like new.....

Never clean before using.. I usually scrape the black sticky goo whilst it's still hot and burn it off..
Then before cooking I just make sure the grille plate is real hot before putting meat on.

All of mine get a brush with an old fashioned, brass bristle wire brush (bought from an iron mongers, not a bbq outlet) when the cooking's finished and they're still hot.
The grill of the little Webber GoAnywhere I keep in the van gets a scrub with scrunched up tinfoil and I usually use the piece I rested the meat in (you all rest your meat from the bbq I hope ?) 😋

Mine barely has time to hit the plate let alone rest .:LOL:

After cooking I just turn the cadac up high and leave it until the smoke stops, let it cool down and the grease on the plate has changed to grey dust then I just brush it off, it's similar to the way a car catalyst works.

Don’t wash the bbq grill just a quick brush over when firing up again. Dogs sort out the cadac. 😉anything they leave on gets scraped off using wooden skewer and replaced for round 2.

Have a Weber Q1000 and give it a strip down and deep clean twice a year.
All other times just fire it up and leave it with the lid down for 20 minutes it heats up to 250+ so will kill anything nasty.

Good scrub soon as we have finished

Cadac was a b....r to clean and dangerous too. I put it in the dustbin with a sign saying "DO NOT USE" just in case someone thought about stealing it.
Gas Weber gets a scrub down with a wire brush while still hot and a "deep clean" every two or three months. I use my Weber 5 days a week all year round. I have one at home and one in the van.

We use a Cadac Grillogas, used to wash it every time we moved (almost every day). Now it gets cleaned at the end of the trip, as has been said hot, hot, hot before cooking on it.

I don't worry about mice peeing on it as Bannock keeps the mice count down in our van :ROFLMAO:

Cheers
Red.

We wash the barbecue grill after every use. Leave it soaking in hot, soapy water over night and it's easy to clean the next day.

I have a Weber Q200 on the patio at home and carry a Weber Q1000 in the motorhome. I used to just clean them at the end of the season but that became a big chore. So now I clean them after each use. Only takes 10 minutes or so.

Always clean - mice and things peeing on the mucky grill no thanks
Or worse still, rats. You’re never that far from one. We cheat and use large foil trays, which can be recycled after use.

Weil's disease form of leptospirosis is carried in infected rat urine…I think rats more or less ‘dribble’ constantly as as scent trail so basically where you have rats, you have the risk of lepto.

Rat pee or not, the heat of the grill when cooking is probably enough to kill it but it’s those parts that don’t get hot that you are touching if rats have been around that would be more concerning to me!

not sure about the ingestion route but we were always told a primary way was through cuts and abrasions on the skin.

Yes, I thoroughly clean the BBQ grill before use.
I'm sure that leaving it dirty being Ok is a myth, right?

hi we just us paella pan on cadac to cook everything easy to clean

Always clean my Charcoal BBQ every time, that Cadac thingy is just an outdoor frying pan methinks.
