Our end of warranty damp check is next week ( delayed from March due to lockdown).

Can I leave all our stuff in it or do I need to empty it?

We always used to empty ours but I would ask the service company.

Most want some water and gas on board if your damp check includes a habitation inspection. (y)

Some ask for all personal items to be removed for Covid reasons, as well as those bits that would get in the way of a damp check.

I use it as an opportunity to get rid of stuff we don't use - my rule is, apart from emergency items, if we haven't used it in the last 12m it doesn't go back in.

Also useful in finding things that have got "lost"!

If its an aluminium construction with no bridges need to empty all the lockers as it is a visual inspection

Ours is being done for the first time next month and we've been asked to empty most of it so they have access to all the nooks and crannies to do a damp test and check it properly, it's gonna be a pain as it's a double floor so loads underneath so our conservatory is gonna look like a 'hoarding home' for a while, but at least we can have a good sort out, not that there's a lot in that we don't want to have though as I gave it a thorough going through when we got the new MH.

Was asked to empty the Motorhome before Hab check and any areas that contained personal belonging would be marked as not checked on report. So have emptied the lot including all soft furnishings, it is going to fly up the hills on route. It is amazing just how much you can put in the van just in case.
No problem with payload at the moment, but how do you get rid of the echo?

If you don't make it easy for them, they'll not do a proper job.

Mine is empty of everything that is not bolted down.....apart from the double mattress! (y)

Well that's another job on my weekend list then..... (y)

I once had a dampcheck 35 years ago but when I started doing contract work for many main dealers I stopped wasting my money.
A friend of mine put his high end German van into the dealer for its first dampcheck in August. He emptied the van and put a strand of thread accros all the cupboard interiors.. He thought they would all be disturbed during the £400 check. Wrong. None were broken so that is how much of a check he had. After taking the manager out to inspect the threads he was given a full refund.
Be cautious as dampchecks are money earning machines.

Fortunately our first check was negotiated when we purchased it ... they'd given us everything else we wanted so we tried our luck and got it ... saving us £350!

I would'nt disagree with you, however, without it, my warranty would be invalid..

Sounds like a wind up yours is a double aluminium skinned van all they will do is give a quick glance over to make sure they is no water pissing in. Just to make the customer think they are doing it properly.

I had my first year water ingress check last week and got a thank you from the staff at Southdowns for making the job straightforward by emptying every thing....I don't think there is a need to put the beach stuff back in at the moment (y)(y)

Just because we could. We once emptied the van completely. I do mean completely, including taking everything out of every box and laid it out on lawn.
bloody hell!
amazing how many boxes had similar / identical items.

I reckon we had reverse burglars who broke in to deposit stuff.

That’s where we are taking our’s for its check ( and warranty work...)
