I have a Chausson 628 with drop down bed, the lights in the base of the bed are very bright, can I use a dimmer switch and if anyone could tell where to get such a thing that would be awesome, thanks

I'm a newbie to MH's but electronics is my thing. 12VDC dimmers are far more tricky than AC ones like for your house lights. A simple resistive dimmer would get so hot it would be impractical, so you will need an electronic dimmer. These need both a positive and negative supply, which you won't typically have available at the switch location. You will also need to know whether the light is LED or filament, to match the dimmer accordingly, and if it is LED, it may not work properly with the dimmer anyway. A quick google suggests you can buy 12VDC Camper van dimmer switches, others on here will hopefully have experience.

I would suggest a far easier approach may be to replace the light with a less bright equivalent, it will also avoid arguments about adjusting the brightness when you are trying to read something.

If the lights are LED it may be a bit tricky. You would need a 12 volt LED dimmer switch but ideally the bulbs themselves should be dimmable. An LED dimmer will dim ordinary LED bulbs but the range will be limited. To be able to dim them to just a romantic glow :) you need bulbs sold as dimmable.

If you can get everything then yes it will work.

If they are halogen then you can get PWM 12 volt dimmer switches.

Normally lED strips are dimmable but you need to fit the dimmer in line with both neg & Positive connections to the LED's. Plenty of dimmers on ebay for under a fiver.
I bought one to do the lights under my bed but so far not been able to locate the neg at the start of the chain.
