Unfortunately I think I already know the answer to this but here goes.....

I'm currently in Spain using 3GEE device from EE with 30GB per month. Now I have my xbox with me as I thought it would be a good way to keep in touch with friends back home.

Problem is one game needs an update and it states it "is around 21.3 GB" so will this update gobble up practically my whole months worth of data?

If so would EE maybe sell a one off data bonus to allow me to update it with out digging in to my monthly allowance?

That's some size of update! Nigh on the size of a blu ray disc.
Not only will it eat up most of your allowance but it will probably take for ever to download.
Is there any setting on the x-box to delay update?

I have a 20Gb / month Three unit that I got charged extra for whilst abroad because I had used "more than a fair percentage" of my allowance abroad - news to me but I know now.

You can buy a 30 day or 90 day data add on, I don't think there is any monthly limit with EE but best to check as some networks limit you to 12 or 15 GB per month when roaming.

With EE you can also buy various 'amounts' of data if you use all your allocated amount up.

Can't play the game without updating it. It's not a big deal but would have been handy to chat to friends back home whilst having a game. Might buy a days wifi from the site so sorry in advance to anyone on Villasol who may experience slow internet shortly :)

I had the same problem with a Garmin cycle satnav that required an update.

I ended up waiting until we were on a site with fast WiFi. Not sure if you are able to readily access WiFi from your device.

Yes I think I will give that a shot. Still going to take a while. A ridiculous amount of data for an update.

I was going to say pay for site wifi or go get a few cups of coffee sat outside mcdonalds etc

Manager at McD's might not be too chuffed if he plugs his x-box and tv in whilst supping his coffee though!

I meant sat outside in the van using the inverter

Auch you're just too clever!(y):notworthy2:
The problem could then move on to, an Aderdonian buying coffee!

You're stuck in the 70's. Aberdonians are some of the most generous guys you can meet.

Give it 20 years when the oil is dry and it may be a different story :xrofl:

Anyway that's me bought a couple days wifi usage from reception and have started the update.

15 minutes in and I'm at 3%

So that means to get to 100% should take roughly......

.... a good while.

Leave it with me.

Some shopping centres and shops have free WiFi, why not use that for updates?
I think you can get unlimited wifi packages now as well.

I'm all parked up so wont be moving for a while. I've bought wifi from this place and it was only 5 Euro for 2 days, so per day that works out about......

.......not too much.

I'll get back to you once I've done the math. :xThumb:

Don't play it..... It makes you sound like a desperate teenager who can't survive without their game fix.

OK grandpa, did you not read the bit where I said it wasn't a big deal but would be handy.

Obviously not, so scoot on.

Yep, I read that bit but you still asked.
Why don't you use your phone to access social media to keep in touch with friends... You can even see them if you want.

You should have realised after my original post that this thread wasn't your cup of tea yet you still felt the need to add your child-like sarcastic comments. Please don't feel the need to reply again.
