Hi folks,

The heavy side door on my Pilote got caught in a gust and banged open with a rather disturbing crack and pulled out a long, self tapper on the inside door surround. The door is functioning but now slightly out of allignment, its stiff to open/close. Tell me, is there a way to re-allign these things?

Cheers in advance

Any chance of a photo? Easier to offer help when we can see the problem.

I had a few dealings in stripping and adjusting our previous MY18 Pilote hab door.

It sounds as if the impact of the hab door on the lower external van wall retainer has bent the lower internal door hinge ever so slightly, hence the resistance when opening and closing.

The Pilote door hinge has a +/-2mm allowance for adjustment but this amount is unlikely to help compensate for the deformity in the lower hinge.

You'll need to take a further look at the lower door hinge and see how it behaves when the door is partially opened and closed, i.e. where the area of resistance seems to be?

Once you observe the hinge in motion then you may need to remove the hinge and fettle it to fit.

Tell me how you get on,

Andrew

Folks, Cheers for the feedback.

I set to it today and fixed it; HUSSAR! No £500 bill....hopefully.

Placed some wood blocks betwixt door frame with a bottle jack, pushed it all back into place, put a new larger screw in the old hole and drilled a new hole for a large 2nd screw to be safe. Adjusted the hinges and it's as smooth as a very smooth thing.

Jobs a good un'.

Ta again

Good job indeed. The ones that cost £0 to fix are always the best in my book.
