Hi, we are currently at Twin Lakes and we will be heading towards home at the end of the week. I am thinking of calling in on some of the D Day celebrations, anyone out there at the moment?
Any suggestions on what to see and, What do people think of the possibility of getting on the aires or do they have temporary sites?

Just back from 'le bell' and there were loads of old ww2 vehicles going the other way.
few years back we happened to be travelling back on the 6th and thought lets have a look. spent 2 hous in a traffic jam to then turn around at the blocked off road to the aire. one of the popular towns on the peninsular but cant remember which.
hope you manage to avoid the crowds.

There are travel restrictions in the Calvados region on the 6th June with no entry without permit from 06.00 to 23.00 in many areas. Google Calvados travel restrictions for details, the Port of Ouistreham is closed all day.

There are restriction to the seafront area in Portsmouth, locals parking is banned and some roads are closed to traffic. Mainly due to the visit of the US President as he seams to be most unpopular!
