Hi everyone

We have a trip planned this summer extending through the Czech rep - through to Hungry and Croatia.

We have some experience in Hungry and Croatia - but little in the CZ Rep - having had an ordinary time some 10 years ago. We propose to go the Prague on which there is much information to read - but other venues? ANY IDEAS ? - also we are 5T EURAMOBIL and it looks like we need one of those damned go boxes like Austria -one of the reason we are going to Czech is to drive round Austria!!!

If you want a beautiful lakeside setting you could try lake Lipno down in South Bohemia, Cesky Krumlov is then only 30 miles or so away and is a lovely old town it also has an aire/Stellplatz type parking place.

The "go box" is called Premid and you will only need it for motorways, you can do your Homework before you go and work out where you want to pick it up, the process was very easy for us as they have a book with several languages and just points to phrases and you respond with pointing at a multiple choice answer, or they might speak English. When you get your box you can get a map with CO-ordinates of all the stations you can hand it back at and get your deposite back, be aware that if you pay in cash you will get cash back so loose on conversion back home, pay by card and the refund goes to your card.

Prague is great, we stayed about 15 miles out and got the train in a couple of days and cycled along the river one day.

This sort of trip is on our hit list now having been pleasantly surprised by Poland and Slovakia. Any info you have after your trip (or better still a thread during it) would be most appreciated.

Have lots of info on Croatia and Bosnia if it helps.

Been to Slovenia and dabbled in the edge of Croatia in the past. At present in Poland and dabbled in Slovakia (on an organised trek in the Tatras). We are very impressed with what we've seen so far in all these countries and are looking at doing an eastern European tour, maybe next summer. All information gratefully accepted. Thanks.

We spent several weeks in the Czech Republic in 2014. Plenty of interesting places to visit and friendly people.
For a few ideas check out our map of where we went. Click on the kangaroo icons to get information on the places we stayed and then click on "Look at the blog" to see the photos and our thoughts.

Hope this helps.
